Bolt Prospects Prospect of the Week: 1/8-1/14

It was a difficult week in the Lightning prospect system, but at least one player managed to shine through...

G Morgan Cey, Johnstown (ECHL)

In the absence of fellow Johnstown netminder Gerald Coleman due to injury and the absence of a large majority of the Chiefs offensive attack with Randy Rowe, Maxime Boisclair and Stanislav Lascek up in Springfield, Morgan Cey has been forced not only to carry a heavy burden in starts, but also a heavy burden of shots. And, although Cey only played one game this week, we at Bolt Prospects have decided to honor Cey for his hard work and incredible resiliency under the circumstances. Last week, in Johnstown's Friday night game against Dayton, Cey stopped an incredible 43 of 44 shots faced before stopping 5 of 5 penalty shots in the shootout to secure a 2-1 win for the Chiefs. For his efforts, Cey was named first star of the game and, perhaps not as importantly, it gives us the perfect opportunity to pay respect to what Cey is currently doing in Johnstown because the effort Cey showed against Dayton is not unlike some of the other Herculean efforts he has posted this season, including his incredible 59 save effort on 12/23 in a 5-2 win against Toledo. Cey is 9-7-2 this season with a 2.84 GAA and .925 save percentage.

Cey's Statistics 1/8-1/14:
1 GP, 1-0-0, 0 SO, 0.92 GAA, .977 sv%
