Bolt Prospects Prospect of the Week: 1/29-2/4

As big as a house, and I'm not referring to Alexander Kharitonov's, well, you know...

D Vladimir Mihalik, Prince George (WHL)

One of the Lightning's most improved prospects this season just so happens to be their biggest in 6'8" Slovakian defenseman Vladimir Mihalik. After struggling through much of last season with Red Deer of the WHL, Mihalik has shown considerable development with his new junior team, the Prince George Cougars. In 4 games last week, Vladimir had 4 assists including a career best 3 assist effort on Tuesday, January 30th at Portland where he claimed third star of the game honors. The Cougars went 4-0 over the same span to rise back to .500 for the season at 23-23-6 this year. For the season, Mihalik has 5 goals and 18 points in 33 games with 53 penalty minutes and an even rating. He has already bested his previous season totals with the Rebels when he had 3 goals and 12 points in 62 games with a -12 rating. Mihalik will likely be signed by the Lightning this summer and if he continues his development they may have their own answer to Zdeno Chara within just a few short years.
