Bolt Prospects Prospect of the Week: 10/2-10/8
Bolt Prospects is starting a new feature today which was suggested to us by part time staff member Erik Murillo. Every Monday throughout the season Bolt Prospects will be naming its Prospect of the Week to the prospect or overage prospect whose performance rises above the rest of the organization's young players. This week's prospect of the week is:
C Dimitri Kazionov, Kazan (RUS)
In four games last week Dimitri, the older brother of 2006 Lightning draft choice Denis Kazionov, had 3 goals and 6 points in 4 games helping Ak Bars Kazan go a perfect 4-0 with wins over Cherepovets, St. Petersburg, Tver and Moscow Dynamo. Kazionov was selected in the 4th round of 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Lightning and has played for Togliatti, Moscow Dynamo and Kazan in the Russian Superleague. Prior to this year, his career best season came in 2003-2004 when Kazionov had 6 goals and 11 points in 47 games for Lada Togliatti. This year, through just 14 games, Dimitri has 5 goals and 10 points with a +5 rating and 8 penalty minutes. Plans are in the works for the Lightning to try and sign both Kazionovs next summer with a view toward bringing them to North America to play in the Lightning organization.
Kazionov's Statistics 10/2-10/8:
