D Brock Beukeboom, SSM: 0-0-0, +1, 2 PIM (hooking)
Season Totals: 10 GP, 0-0-0, -3, 36 PIM
An offensive explosion for the Soo, yet Beukeboom is still searching for his first point of the season. The Lightning’s third round pick was named this week to Team OHL for the upcoming Canada/Russia Subway Super Series.

Another quiet night on the scoresheet for Schemitsch.

Lethbridge Hurricanes 4 @ Regina Pats 3 (SO)
RW Carter Ashton, REG: 0-0-0, -1, 2 PIM (slashing)
Season totals: 10 GP, 3-2-5, -7, 21 PIM
Ashton was the third and final shooter for the Pats in the shootout, but he hit the post and couldn’t extend the tie-breaker. Ashton is tied for sixth on the club in scoring, behind two defensemen. His minus-7 rating is tied for third worst on the team. The Regina newspaper reported this week it’s not a matter of “if,†but “when†and “where†Ashton gets traded within the WHL, but Regina needs for him to play to his 1st round capabilities so they can maximize the return for their rebuilding effort. Regina is tied for the fewest points in the league with Kelowna at 2-7-1-1.
Brandon Wheat Kings 3 @ Prince George Cougars 5
RW Brett Connolly, PG: 2-0-2, +1, 0 PIM, *Second Star*

Reigning WHL and CHL Player of the Week Sena Acolatse, a right-handed, undrafted, overage defenseman, had 2 assists in the game. Acolatse has 13 points in 8 games this season with Prince George since coming over from Saskatoon.

D Adam Janosik, GAT: 0-0-0, -1, 0 PIM, 0 SOG
Season Totals: 11 GP, 1-3-4, +1, 2 PIM
Gatineau outshot the Sagueneens 34-15, including 4-0 in overtime, but needed that extra session to win. Janosik was credited with two hits in the game. He had 35 points last year, but is off to a bit of a slow start statistically.
Saginaw Spirit 2 @ Belleville Bulls 3 (OT)
C Richard Panik, BEL: 3-0-3, +2, 0 PIM, *First Star*
Season totals: 10 GP, 10-7-17, +4, 13 PIM

Prince George Cougars 8 @ Kamloops Blazers 1
RW Brett Connolly, PG: 2-1-2, +2, 0 PIM, *Third Star*
Season totals: 10 GP, 9-7-16, +2, 4 PIM

Saskatoon is now 8-1 and one point behind league-leader Portland.
Ottawa 67’s 4 @ Oshawa Generals 3
G Michael Zador, OSH: Loss, 22 saves on 26
Season Totals: 4-1-0-0, 3.61 GAA, .894 sv%
Zador got a confidence boost when Coach/GM Chris DePiero put him right back in net after Zador was pulled in his previous game. Zador wasn’t great, however, and suffered his first (technically) loss of the year against the 67’s despite the Gens outshooting Ottawa 36-26. This is a crucial time for Zador, who struggled mightily with consistency last season. If he can right this quickly, it could go a long way to him getting a contract this spring. If he continues to ride the roller coaster, the uphill climb to a contract gets steeper.
Prince George Cougars 7 @ Edmonton Oil Kings 8
RW Brett Connolly, PG: 2-0-2, +1, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 8 GP, 6-5-11, -1, 2 PIM
Connolly, who has at least a point in all 8 games this year, scored the game’s first 2 goals, but the Cougars would later blow a 6-3 third period lead in 6 minutes and eventually have to tie the game to send it to overtime. The Oil Kings won it in the extra session.
