The mojo in the newly retired jersey of Steven Stamkos hanging in the rafters of the Progressive Auto Sales Arena could not be contained as Jordan Kyrou (STL, 2016 2nd round pick) and Adam Ruzicka (CGY, 2017 4th round pick) led the Sarnia Sting in doing what no team in nearly thirty games has been able to do – defeat the Soo in regulation. The first game for Taylor Raddysh since being named OHL and CHL Player-of-the-Week was a disaster along with linemates Boris Katchouk and Morgan Frost (PHI, 2017 1st round pick), all three held pointless by the Sting and each slapped with a -3 rating. One of the few bright spots for the Greyhounds was Hayden Verbeek (undrafted), nephew of Pat Verbeek, who scored in the 3rd to tie the game at 3-3 before Kyrou and Ruzicka combined to sink the Soo’s regulation win streak.
