Philip-Michael Devos had another three point game, Charles Landry had his third assist in his sixth ECHL game, and the Florida Everblades topped the Trenton Titans 6-3. But… the real story is old time hockey – aka a line brawl – happened a year to the day that the ‘Blades were involved in their last Christmas massacre. It’s safe to say that their horrific Christmas jerseys are just a cover for a team that has anything but the Christmas spirit – unless the Christmas spirit involves punching, face washing and Lightning prospect Pat Nagle skating the length of the ice to get in on the action. Let’s hope Santa wasn’t watching. I know this – next year on the last game before Christmas I’m buying a ticket for the Evergrinches game. Nagle was kicked out for leaving his crease to fight (see video below). Maybe he can make the Lightning as an enforcer. Alex Hutchings remains out with an upper-body injury. He hasn’t played since November 12.

Philip-Michael Devos (pictured), recently returned to the ‘Blades from AHL Norfolk, had a goal and two assists, including getting a helper on Scott Pitt’s bad angle game-winner with 14 seconds left in overtime as Florida beat Trenton. Devos scored his fifth of the year with under two minutes remaining to send the game to overtime. Alex Hutchings remains out with an upper-body injury. He hasn’t played since November 12.

Pat Nagle stopped 31 of 34 shots in regulation and overtime, then stopped all seven shooters he faced in the skills competition to backstop Florida to a much-needed win over Greenville. Charles Landry notched his second assist in three games in the win. Florida pulled within one point of Greenville for second in the South Division, though technically they remain tied for last with South Carolina in the division. Alex Hutchings remains out with an upper-body injury. He hasn’t played since November 12.

After sitting last night Pat Nagle was strong in net Friday for Florida, giving up two goals on the road before the Gladiators scored into an empty net. Nagle’s teammates were stymied by former Montreal fourth rounder Jason Missiaen in goal for Gwinnett. Nagle’s save percentage continue to creep up to the .900 mark. Alex Hutchings remains out with an upper-body injury. He hasn’t played since November 12.

Pat Nagle sat backup to Billy Sauer in the game. Sauer stopped 33 of 37 shots in the loss. Alex Hutchings remains out with an upper-body injury. He hasn’t played since November 12. G Pat Nagle, FLA: Loss, 25 saves on 29 shots

Elmira took game three of their three-game set with Florida to win the series 2-1. The ‘Blades scored first, then watched as the Jackals scored four straight goals before Florida scored with under two minutes to go to give the game its final score. At least it was Teddy Bear Toss night in southwest Florida so there was some good to come out of the game. Nagle has alternated wins and losses in his last six matches.

LW Alex Hutchings, FLA: Did not play (injured)

A snowman in southwest Florida! Nagle bounced back from a poor outing Wednesday with a solid 28 saves Friday in a big Everblades win over Elmira. The Everblades’ eight goals were a season high. Matt Beca (pictured), the former Clarkston star, had a goal and four assists for Florida. Carolina draft pick Justin Shugg, who was just sent down to the ‘Blades, contributed two assists. This game got a little chippy, which should mean the third game of a three game series set for Saturday night will be a good one. Alex Hutchings remains out with an undisclosed injury.

With regular No.1 goaltender John Muse called up to Charlotte of the AHL, Florida needed Lightning prospect Pat Nagle to stand tall, but the first year pro had a rough night Wednesday in a home loss to Elmira. Nagle stopped just 14 of 19 shots as Elmira overcame a 3-2 second period deficit to win. He nearly had his second assist in a week when he started a play that ended up in the Everblades' first goal, but unfortunately for him they don't award three assists on each goal.

Former Buffalo Sabres captain Craig Rivet scored his first goal of the season for the Jackals. In a blast from the Lightning’s past, defenseman Mario Laroque – the Lightning’s first round pick in 1996 – had a goal and two assists for Elmira. He spent last year in the Central Hockey League with the Evansville IceMen.

Lightning GM Phil Esposito took Laroque (pictured) 16th overall in the summer of 1996. He made his NHL debut two years later, playing in five games for the Bolts. He would never see NHL ice again and was out of the organization a few years later. He’s bounced around North America and played a couple years overseas since then. His most successful statistical year was for UHL Fort Wayne in 2006-2007 when he had 67 points (27 goals) in 76 games. Laroque was the first defenseman taken by the Lightning in the first round since they took Roman Hamrlik with the first overall pick in their first draft (1992).

G Pat Nagle, FLA: Win, 30 saves on 33 shots

For the second straight night the Everblades got an overtime goal to top the Gladiators. This time it was Florida leading scorer David Rutherford (pictured), who scored his 10th goal of the season. His ninth opened the game. Rutherford was a teammate of Lightning prospect Dustin Tokarski with the Spokane Chiefs from 2006 to 2008 and won a Memorial Cup with Tokarski and Tyler Johnson in 2008.

Nagle notched his first professional point in the game, an assist in the second period.

The News-Press has the description:

"The Everblades extended the lead early in the second period on a heads up play by goalie Pat Nagle. While Gwinnett was in the midst of a line change, Nagle quickly moved the puck to the far blue line to Matt Beca. Beca charged into the zone on the right wing side and fired a shot which was redirected into the net by Rylan Galiardi."

Norfolk property Philip-Michael Devos was called up to the Admirals before the game. He had an assist in his AHL debut.
