Blackhawks first rounder Teuvo Teravainen assisted on all 3 Finnish goals. Predators 4th round pick, goaltender Juuse Saros was named player of the match turning aside 35 shots in the win.

Andrey Vasilevskiy got a pair of First Period goals worth of support and that was all he needed as he turned aside 30 shots to lead Russia to a 2-1 victory over Canada in the Bronze Medal Match. Vasilevskiy was named Russia's best player in the match for his efforts. Fellow Lightning prospect Jonathan Drouin was held scoreless for the second time in the tournament, but he did go 53% on draws in defeat.

Drouin finished tied for 7th in scoring in the tournament, 6 points back of Teravainen, who won the tournament scoring title. Digging deeper into the statistics, Drouin was also 7th in the tournament on face-offs at 59%. Vasilevskiy was named one of Russia's 3 top players in the tournament by the coaches but lost out on Best Goaltender and Media All-Star plaudits to Oscar Dansk of Sweden and Saros, respectively. He finished second in the tournament in save percentage and third in goals against average.

Columbus second rounder Oscar Dansk made 26 saves to help lead Sweden to a narrow 2-1 win over Russia. Pittsburgh third rounder Oskar Sundqvist had the game winning goal for the Swedes. Undrafted forward Damir Zhafyarov had Russia's only goal and was named their team's best player of the match. Vasilevskiy was named one of Russia's top-3 players for the tournament.

Jonathan Drouin scored Canada's only goal, but also took his second penalty for checking to the head and neck area of the tournament, as well. He was not named one of Canada's top-3 players for the tournament.

Canada will square off with Russia in the Bronze Medal Match tomorrow while Finland and Sweden will play for the Gold Medal.

Andrey Vasilevskiy made several key stops and Edmonton third rounder Anton Slepyshev had 3 assists as Russia knocked off defending Gold Medalist USA 5-3 in the Quarterfinal Round. New Jersey first rounder Stefan Matteau had 1 goal and 1 assist in defeat for the Americans.

Lightning prospect Henri Ikonen had his first goal of the tournament, a key marker to tie the game at 3-3 early in the Third Period, as Finland pulled away in the final frame to defeat Czech Republic 5-3. Blackhawks first rounder Teuvo Teravainen had 2 helpers in the victory for the Finns.

Despite several dangerous forays in the Swiss zone, Jonathan Drouin was held without a point for the first time in the tournament in Canada's 4-1 win over Switzerland. The forward did go 78% on 9 draws in the win. Islanders first rounder, defenseman Griffin Reinhart, had 1 goal and 1 assist in the win and was named the Canadians' top player in the match.

The Semifinal Round sets up with a big rematch between Sweden and Russia followed by a bout between Canada and Finland. Team USA heads home out of the medals.

The Canadians avoided the trap of getting caught looking ahead to their next opponent tomorrow (USA) that tripped up Russia.

Scouting Report

Strengths: 

Hard working winger is a decent skater with above average skill. Solid compete level and proved he could score in Canadian juniors posting 22 goals and 51 points in 61 games with the Frontenacs, which led them in scoring. He's also fairly competent in the defensive third, as well.

Weaknesses: 

Average NHL size, and doesn't blow you away with his speed or skill level. Likely returning to KalPa of the Finnish SM-liiga next season.
