Jets first rounder (2011) Mark Scheifele, who “should” be in an NHL camp right now, had a goal and an assist for Barrie, but did not convert his shootout attempt on Rangers pick Jordan Bennington. Bennington, as longtime Bolt prospects followers will remember, was a tandem-mate of former Lightning prospect Michael Zador when Owen Sound won the OHL championship. Oshawa Generals 5 @ Peterborough Petes 2

D Slater Koekkoek, PBO: 0-1-1, E, 0 PIM

Koekkoek returned to the Peterborough lineup after not only missing all but the Petes’ first 26 games last year, but the last couple weeks of the preseason this year. He was named Peterborough's captain in the offseason before being knocked out of their first preseason game with a badly bruised shoulder. Knocking him out of that game was Columbus prospect Boone Jenner, who had two goals and an assist for Oshawa tonight. Koekkoek was playing his first game since November 27, 2011. He had shoulder surgery last fall. The Lightning took him 10th overall in this summer’s draft.

Former Lightning prospect Geoffrey Schemitsch, an alternate captain for the Generals, had an assist in the game. The Lightning chose not to sign him in the spring, allowing him to re-enter the draft. He was not selected. Schemitsch was traded to the Gens from Owen Sound last year.
