Landry, Charles

North American Juniors Game Night: 1/13/11

Fargo Force 3 @ Omaha Lancers 2 (SO)
C Jimmy Mullin, FGO: 0-1-1, E, 0 PIM, 2 SOG
Season totals: 26 GP, 14-18-32, +16, 18 PIM

Mullin broke a mini two-game scoreless streak when he set up Dan Weissenhofer for the game tying goal in the third period. Mullin was the only Force player of five to not convert their shootout chance in the tiebreaker. Fargo pulled within two points of conference leading Dubuque, though the Fighting Saints have four games in hand.

Montreal Juniors 5 @ Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 1
D Charles Landry, MTL: 1-0-1, +1, 0 PIM, 2 SOG, 0 Hits
Season Totals: 33 GP, 7-22-29, +15, 18 PIM

Landry’s seventh goal of the year was an unassisted marker. With the goal Landry, who already has an NHL contract from the Lightning, set a career high for goals in a season. He had six last year for Drummondville. He’s within one point of his career high for points in a year, also set last year in 68 games.

North American Juniors Game Night: 1/9/11

Gatineau Olympiques 5 @ Montreal Juniors 3
D Adam Janosik, GAT: 1-1-2, +1, 0 PIM, 1 SOG, 2 Hits
Season Totals: 35 GP, 5-14-19, +6, 20 PIM
D Charles Landry, MTL: 1-0-1, +1, 0 PIM, 1 SOG, 1 Hit
Season Totals: 32 GP, 6-22-28, +14, 18 PIM

This was a good game for Lightning prospect watchers as both Bolt prospects scored in the game. Janosik (pictured) has been hitting the scoresheet regularly since his return from the WJCs. Landry scored his sixth of the season, which ties his career high for goals in a season set last year with Drummondville in twice as many games.

London Knights 6 @ Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 4
D Brock Beukeboom, SSM: 0-0-0, -1, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 34 GP, 0-5-5, -6, 48 PIM

The Soo outshot London 27-25 in the game.

Guelph Storm 4 @ Saginaw Spirit 5
C/W Richard Panik, GUE: 1-0-1, -1, 0 PIM
With Guelph: 9 GP, 6-5-11, -5, 8 PIM
With Belleville: 27 GP, 14-17-31, E, 31 PIM
Season totals: 36 GP, 20-22-42, -5, 39 PIM

Panik scored his 20th goal of the season and his third in three games since returning from the WJCs, but it wasn’t enough for Guelph to beat Saginaw. He has a five game goal streak going back to mid-December.

Owen Sound Attack 4 @ Ottawa 67’s 6
D Geoffrey Schemitsch, OS: 0-1-1, E, 2 PIM (hooking)
Season totals: 32 GP, 1-14-15, +11, 8 PIM
G Michael Zador, OS: Loss, 24 saves on 30 shots.
With Attack: 4 GP, 2-1-0-0, 4.08 GAA, .867 sv%, 0 SO
With Oshawa: 18 GP, 10-3-1-1, 3.36 GAA, .879 sv%, 1 SO
Season Totals: 22 GP, 12-4-1-1, 3.47 GAA, .877 sv%, 1 SO

Owen Sound scored the game’s first two goals, but they couldn’t make them stand up and ended up, losing in Ottawa 6-4. This was not a good showing for Zador, who doesn’t get many chances to play anyway. Kings second rounder Tyler Toffoli had a hat trick for Ottawa. He’s up to 38 goals and 75 points in just 41 games this year.

North American Juniors Game Night: 1/4/11

Montreal Juniors 1 @ Chicoutimi Sagueneens 2
D Charles Landry, MTL: 0-1-1, +1, 2 PIM (cross-checking), 0 SOG, 0 Hits
Season Totals: 30 GP, 5-22-27, +15, 18 PIM

Landry earned an assist on Montreal’s lone goal, scored with 14 seconds left in the game. Christopher Gibson (undrafted) stopped 37 of 38 shots for Chicoutimi.

D Teigan Zahn, SAS: 0-1-1, +2, 0 PIM
Season totals: 40 GP, 2-10-12, +10, 64 PIM

Zahn has two points in his last three games. He’s approaching his career high of 19 points, set in 69 games during the 2007-2008 season.

North American Juniors Game Night: 12/30/10

Montreal Juniors 3 @ Rimouski Oceanic 4 (OT)
D Charles Landry, MTL: 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM, 0 SOG, 0 Hits
Season Totals: 29 GP, 5-21-26, +14, 16 PIM

Jarrad Struthers (undrafted) scored his 13th of the season for Rimouski in overtime. Landry started the game, but didn’t hit the scoresheet.

Sudbury Wolves 1 @ Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 7
D Brock Beukeboom, SSM: 0-0-0, +1, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 31 GP, 0-5-5, -7, 46 PIM

I saw the score and thought there was a great chance Beukeboom scored his first of the year, but not yet. The Brock Beukeboom goal watch continues. A captain will always take a win over a goal, and the Soo took both games from Sudbury this week.

Prince Albert Raiders 1 @ Saskatoon Blades 5
D Teigan Zahn, SAS: 0-0-0, +1, 0 PIM
Season totals: 37 GP, 2-8-10, +10, 64 PIM

The Blades completed the two-game sweep of Prince Albert Thursday with a 5-1 win. They scored four times in the first period.

Of Note: Carter Ashton (Canada), Brett Connolly (Canada), Adam Janosik (Czech Republic), and Richard Panik (Slovakia) are all participating in preparations for the upcoming World Junior Championships.

North American Juniors Game Night: 12/28/10

Light night in the junior ranks with a healthy chunk of the Lightning's prospects participating in the U20 WJC's:

Owen Sound 7 @ Barrie 6 (SO)
Geoffrey Schemitsch, Owen Sound, 0-1-1, E, 0 PIM
Season totals: 27 GP, 1-13-14, +9, 6 PIM

Michael Zador, Owen Sound, Win, 31/37, 5.54 GAA, .838 sv%
Season totals: 11-3-2, 0 SO, 3.41 GAA, .878 sv%

Geoffrey Schemitsch assisted on a Liam Heelis goal in Owen Sound's 7-6 shootout victory over Barrie. Heelis is rocking the black rimmed glasses in his roster picture, proving ZZ Tops' old adage that every girl's crazy about a sharp dressed man. Michael Zador continued to lead a charmed life, stopping 3 of 4 shooters to steal the shootout win despite an abysmal .838 save percentage in the contest. Only in the Lightning organization can a man have a sub .880 save percentage and be 8 games over .500 on the season.

Montreal 3 @ Shawinigan 4 (SO)
Charles Landry, Montreal, 0-2-2, +1, 0 PIM, 1 SOG
Season totals: 28 GP, 5-21-26, +14, 16 PIM

Meanwhile, in the "Q", Charles Landry assisted on the final two goals of a Montreal comeback by Xavier Ouellet and David Rose to help force overtime, but the Juniors still fell 4-3 in the shootout. Shawiningan's Gabriel Girard was named the game's number one star after turning away 37 of 40 shots and 2 of 4 attempts for the shootout victory.
