Wilcox couldn’t make it three straight games with a first star award as the first place Lancers put five pucks by him on Friday on their way to a big win. Tri-City is still one point out of a playoff spot in the West.

Fresh off signing a 3-year free agent contract with the Lightning, forward Danick Gauthier had three assists to help the first place Sea Dogs to an 8-1 win over last place PEI. Gauthier is 10th in the league in total points now with 75. Florida Panthers first rounder Jonathan Huberdeau had four goals on the night for Saint John. The Rocket was outshot 41-15. To put things into perspective, Saint John leads the league with 94 points. PEI has 38.

It’s over! Schemitsch’s (pictured) streak of 86 regular season games without a goal came to an end when he scored an unassisted marker on Friday night in London. It was his first goal since the first game of the 2010-2011 season when he was with Owen Sound. On the other side of the ice, former Lightning prospect camper Seth Griffith had a hat trick for the Knights. He has 44 goals this season. His usual set-up man, Lightning prospect Vladislav Namestnikov, was moved off Griffith’s line.

Christian Ouellet (undrafted), who was traded by the Olympiques to Chicoutimi earlier this year, had three goals and two assists for the Sags against his old team. Janosik had the C back on his sweater for the Olympiques.

Namestnikov was scoreless for the second straight game after notching a career-high five points on Friday night. This was a matchup between two of the league’s top goal scorers – former Lightning camper Seth Griffith, who was scoreless, and Kings second rounder Tyler Toffoli, who scored his 46th goal of the season on Sunday. Toffoli leads Griffith 46-41. Senators second rounder Shane Prince also scored for Ottawa. Prince now has 39 goals.

Milan’s goal late in the second period cut Baie-Comeau’s lead to 3-2. The Tigres would eventually tie the game – twice – including Phillip Danault’s goal with 20 seconds left that sent the game to overtime. Milan’s goal was his second of the season. Schemitsch remains scratched for Oshawa because of a concussion. This is at least his third concussion. Late bloomer Tanner Pearson (undrafted) had a goal and an assist for the Colts. Pearson, who is second in the league with 79 points in 47 games (33 goals), is speculated to go in the second round of this summer’s NHL draft. He played for Team Canada at the recent World Junior tournament.

Wilcox (pictured) continues to shine for Tri-City, this time stopping all but two of 31 shots to help the Storm to a home win over last place Sioux Falls. TC is two points behind Des Moines for the West’s final playoff spot, though Des Moines has a game in hand.

Victoriaville carried a 3-0 lead into the third period before allowing five goals to the Mooseheads. One of the Halifax goals was an empty netter. Despite the choking, Victoriaville’s Phillip Danault, a first round pick of the Blackhawks last summer, was named first star for scoring two goals. The Tigres are in fourth in the QMJHL.
