To put Kazionov's goal scoring in perspective, he had just 16 goals combined in the last two seasons for Kazan in the Superleague and KHL. His 21 points also ties his career highs set in the Superleague in 2006-2007 and 2007-2008.

He also led all Dynamo forwards in ice time with 20:44 of playing time and he was 53% on draws. You also can't say Vasily Koshechkin didn't bring his A-game today, as he stopped 42 shots in the Magnitogorsk loss.

Lightning Reassign Karsums to KHL

Tampa Bay - The Tampa Bay Lightning have assigned prospect right wing Martins Karsums to HC MVD Balashikha of the Kontinental Hockey League today, Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced. Karsums has played 36 games for the Norfolk Admirals this season, scoring 4 goals and adding 12 assists.

Despite speculation that prospect goaltender Dustin Tokarski will be recalled to Tampa today to back up Antero Niittymaki in tonight's match against the Florida Panthers, no official word of the recall has yet to be announced.

Lightning Place Blair Jones on Waivers; Karsums Clears

Bob McKenzie of TSN is reporting via Twitter that the Tampa Bay Lightning have placed prospect forward Blair Jones on waivers. BoltProspects assumes that Jones has been waived for purposes of reassignment to the Norfolk Admirals. Jones had recently been criticized by head coach Rick Tocchet as not being opportunistic with potential scoring chances over the last few games, despite bringing a physical and energetic role to the Tampa frontline.

McKenzie is also reporting that prospect forward Martins Karsums has cleared waivers, but his destination at the moment is uncertain. It has been speculated by some in the local Tampa media that Karsums was on waivers as a precursor to his returning to Europe, but with Jones being place on waivers it would seem that perhaps Karsums will be recalled to the Lightning.

Stay tuned to continued developments as this story unfolds.

Adam Hall (2 goals and 2 assists and a +3 rating) was the game's first star and Ryan Craig was the game's second star with a pair of goals and a +3 rating, answering the bell in Brandon Bochenski's absence. Martins Karsums (4 assists and +3 rating) evidently didn't deserve star consideration. Really?

Karsums now has 2 goals and 10 points over his last 7 games and is finally emerging from a slump that lasted almost the entire first half of the season. He looks energized heading into the Olympics for native Latvia. Matt Lashoff had a pair of helpers for his first multi-point night of the season. Like Karsums, who came with Lashoff in the Mark Recchi deal, Lashoff also slumbered offensively through much of the first half of the season, but he now has 1 goal and 4 points in his last 4 games. Sooner or later, it was inevitable with the talent on this roster that certain guys like Karsums and Lashoff were going to start showing up. It's a good sign.
