Zador, who was once a first round pick of London, got the start in the pivotal Game 5 for Owen Sound and didn’t disappoint, stopping 13 of 13 shots before leaving the game midway through the third period. It was his first career playoff win. The Attack’s usual No.1 keeper, Jordan Binnington, didn’t dress for the game. He’s been shaky this series and was pulled in favor of Zador in Game 4. There are no reports of an injury to Zador, so it’s likely he was pulled in the third period with the game out of hand to prevent an injury.

"I felt like it was just an every day game, I was comfortable," Zador told the Owen Sound Sun Times after the game. "Our team played great in front of me so I'm really happy how it turned out. I'm just going to take it day-to-day and keep playing the way I am right now."

The Knights only had 14 shots in Game 5 despite having four power plays. Game 6 is Sunday in London.

Spokane will face Lightning prospect Carter Ashton and Tri-City in the next round starting next Saturday. Hopefully the week off allows enough time for Johnson to recover.

Season Totals: 71 GP, 53-62-115, +27, 48 PIM
Playoff Totals: 3 GP, 2-2-4, +1, 0 PIM

Johnson missed the game due to an injury sustained when he was elbowed by Chilliwack’s Tyler Stahl in the second period of Game 3. Stahl was suspended for Thursday’s game. No timetable has been given for Johnson’s return. Spokane was able to overcome not playing with the WHL’s leading goal scorer and second leading point producer in Game 4, but unless Johnson returns, their shot at the conference and/or league titles is in jeopardy. The Bruins have their own distractions now since there are heavy rumors the team is moving to Victoria, B.C. after being sold. The Chiefs can close it out Saturday at home in Game 5.

Season totals: 46 GP, 20-34-54, +26, 24 PIM

They remain tied for third in the West, one point behind Omaha. Tri-City is in the Western Conference cellar.

With Belleville: 27 GP, 14-17-31, E, 33 PIM

They’ll face Saginaw, who won the West Division. Panik set career highs for goals, assists, points, and PIM.

London Knights 3 @ Owen Sound Attack 6
D Geoffrey Schemitsch, OS: Did not play (injured - broken arm)
Season totals: 45 GP, 1-19-20, +17, 14 PIM
G Michael Zador, OS: Did not play (backup)

Season Totals: 31 GP, 19-5-1-1, 3.23 GAA, .888 sv%, 1 SO

Zador sat out as Jordan Binnington got his second straight start as top-seeded Owen Sound wanted to get their No.1 going again before the playoffs. With the Attack’s regular season over, it’s unlikely Zador will see much - if any - ice time in the post-season. Schemitsch is could be back when Owen Sound faces London in the first round.

WHL

Chilliwack Bruins 4 @ Tri-City Americans 6
C Tyler Johnson, SPO: 1-1-2, E, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 70 GP, 52-61-113, +26, 48 PIM

Season Totals: 61 GP, 33-38-71, -4, 106 PIM

TC finally got the better of Spokane after the Chiefs had beat the Americans five straight times. They also broke the Chiefs' 10 game win streak. Johnson broke a personal two game scoreless streak with his 112th and 113th points of the year. His 52nd goal of the year put him one ahead of Chilliwack’s Ryan Howse (Flames) for the league goal scoring title. Howse is out of games and Johnson’s lead on everyone else is secure. He has one game left and is two points behind Medicine Hat’s Linden Vey (Kings) for the league scoring title and Bob Clarke Trophy. Spokane plays at Portland Sunday; Vey is out of games. Spokane has clinched the three seed. Ashton, meanwhile, scored his 33rd goal of the year Saturday night. He has 17 points in his last 10 games. The Americans, who have clinched the four seed, will play either Chilliwack or Vancouver in the first round depending if the Giants win Sunday.

Kamloops Blazers 1 @ Prince George Cougars 5
RW Brett Connolly, PG: 1-2-3, E, 0 PIM
Season totals: 59 GP, 46-27-73, -5, 26 PIM

Connolly extended his point streak to five games with a three point night in the final game of Prince George’s regular season. He has 10 points in those five games. The Cougars will play second-seeded Kelowna, the B.C. Division champion, in the first round. By winning Saturday PG avoided the eighth seed and playing powerhouse Portland. Kelowna had the fourth most points in the conference. After all the talk about Connolly’s durability he played under a microscope of sorts during the season. And while he did miss two weeks with a knee sprain (he was expected to miss a month), he proved to be every bit the offensive weapon he was expected to be when the Lightning chose him sixth overall last summer. His other games missed were due to his inclusion on the Canadian WJC squad. He set career highs for goals and points this year.

Regina Pats 2 @ Saskatoon Blades 4
D Teigan Zahn, SAS: 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM
Season totals: 72 GP, 3-20-23, +39, 133 PIM

Saskatoon completed their regular season with a win over Regina. Zahn set career highs for games, assists, points, and plus/minus. Season totals: 50 GP, 26-29-55, -8, 69 PIM

Panik played his first game since February 11 when he suffered a sprained ankle. He’s back for the Storm just in time for the playoffs. Guelph is still in seventh in the West, though eighth place London is two points behind with a game in hand. The eighth place finisher meets top-seeded Owen Sound in the first round. Zador was back on the bench for Owen Sound after starting two games this week and winning them both. Schemitsch is expected back for the Attack’s playoff opener.

WHL

Season totals: 58 GP, 45-25-70, -4, 26 PIM

Connolly (pictured) scored twice in the first period to spark Prince George to a 2-0 lead, but Kamloops fought their way back to tie the game and send it to overtime. Connolly failed to convert his shootout attempt. With the win, the Cougars eliminated Kamloops from playoff contention. PG is still hanging on to the eighth spot in the West.

Seattle Thunderbirds 0 @ Spokane Chiefs 5
C Tyler Johnson, SPO: 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 69 GP, 51-60-111, +26, 48 PIM

Johnson went scoreless for the second straight game, which normally wouldn’t be a big deal, but he’s trying to catch Medicine Hat’s Linden Vey for the league scoring title. Vey leads by three points. Spokane put up 34 shots on Seattle a game after they peppered Chilliwack goaltender Lucas Gore with 78 shots. Only one went in as the Chiefs beat the Bruins 2-1 in a shootout. Johnson earned three awards, including the Chiefs Player of the Year honor, in a pre-game ceremony on Friday night on the Chiefs Coca-Cola Regular Season Finale. Johnson was named the Chiefs Player of the Year in a pre-game ceremony, and also given the team's Humanitarian of the Year award for the third straight season and the Ken Rabel Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year.

Saskatoon Blades 3 @ Regina Pats 2 (OT)
D Teigan Zahn, SAS: 0-1-1, +1, 0 PIM
Season totals: 71 GP, 3-21-24, +39, 133 PIM

Zahn earned the only assist on Brayden Schenn’s overtime winner for Saskatoon. Though Zahn has 133 penalty minutes on the year, he has only two in his last 11 games. The captain will need to stay out of the box in what looks to be a long Saskatoon playoff run.
