WHL

Kootenay Ice 2 @ Regina Pats 0
RW Carter Ashton, REG: 0-0-0, -1, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 7 GP, 2-1-3, -3, 21 PIM

Regina is a league-worst 1-6-1-0 so far this year, and for a team with Jordan Weal and Ashton, that shouldn’t be happening. They managed only 14 shots on goal – at home – on Tuesday. Then again, this was a team that had Jordan Eberle last year and greatly faltered. After scoring 30 two years ago, Ashton fell to 24 goals last year, and with only 2 after 7 games, he can’t be happy with his (or the team’s) production so far, especially considering he had such a good Lightning camp and exhibition season.

North American Juniors Game Night: 10/8/10

O’Donnell remains third on the Vees in scoring. Penticton sits in third in the Interior Conference at 5-4-0-0. They were playing for the fourth consecutive night and fifth game in the last six days. The Vees went 3-2 in the 5 games. They’re now off until Thursday.

D Adam Janosik, GAT: 0-1-1, +1, 0 PIM, 1 SOG
Season Totals: 4 GP, 1-2-3, +2, 0 PIM

Janosik (pictured) earned his third point of the season, though it came in a loss to Shawinigan. The Olympiques outshot the Cataractes 41-16. Jean-Sebastien Boucher (undrafted), playing in his first game, stopped just 10 of 15 shots for Gatineau. Shawinigan added an empty netter.

WHL

RW Carter Ashton, REG: 0-0-0, -1, 2 PIM (slashing)
09-10 Season Totals: 64 GP, 24-27-51, -12, 102 PIM

Ashton made his season debut for the Pats, but Regina fell in another close game to Brandon. Regina is now 0-2 on the young season. Ashton is wearing an alternate captain’s A on his sweater this year. The former first round pick of the Bolts scored two goals in NHL exhibition play last week before being returned to his junior team.

BCHL

Salmon Arm Silverbacks 6 @ Penticton Vees 5

OHL

Oshawa Generals 5 @ Peterborough Petes 4
G Michael Zador, OSH: Win, 37 saves on 41 shots

Zador (pictured) will again battle Kevin Bailie for playing time this season, but the 2009 fifth round pick of the Lightning got the season opening start for Oshawa. He was 14-28-2-1 with a 4.15 GAA and .884 save percentage for the Gens last year.

North American Juniors Game Day: 9/21/10

Prince George Spruce Kings 2 @ Penticton Vees 3 (OT)
C Brendan O’Donnell, PEN: 0-0-0, 2 PIM (Tripping)
Season Totals: 5 GP, 1-1-2, 2 PIM

O’Donnell is off to a bit of a slow start despite registering points in his first two games. “Slow” is relative, however, as he’s still tied for third in team scoring. He was a point-per-game (plus) player last year in the MJHL. Penticton is 3-2-0-0 on the year, two points behind Salmon Arm for first in the Interior Conference.

North American Juniors Game Day: 9/17/10

QMJHL

Montreal Juniors 3 @ Rimouski Oceanic 4 (OT)
D Charles Landry, MTL: 0-1-1, -1, 0 PIM

Fresh off signing an entry level contract with the Lightning, Landry earned a primary assist on Montreal’s game-tying goal late in the third period in his season debut, but the Juniors fell in OT to Vincent Lecavalier’s alma mater 4-3. Landry was on the ice for the game winner. Rimouski only dressed 14 skaters (4 defensemen), yet overcame an early 2-0 deficit to win. Landry was credited with 2 hits in the game. Alex Emond (undrafted) had a hattrick for Rimouski.

Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 0 @ Gatineau Olympiques 6
