Brandon got some revenge on the WHL’s top team and the CHL’s No.2 team by coming back from a 4-2 deficit after one period and beating the Blades 7-6 in Saskatoon. The Blades had beaten the Wheaties 7-4 earlier this week. David Toews, Jonathan’s brother, scored the game winner with under four minutes to go. Toews left the University of North Dakota after his sophomore season to play Canadian Juniors this year. The Islanders pick has 15 goals and 36 points in 50 games.

His fellow 2010 first rounders Ryan Johansen (Blue Jackets) and Nino Niederreiter (Islanders) combined for a goal (Johansen) and two assists (El Nino) Wednesday. Prince George is one point up on Kamloops for seventh in the West while Portland is back at No.1 in the conference.

Kings first rounder Brayden Schenn scored his 12th goal in 13 games - a goal that came in overtime Wednesday to thwart a full Tigers comeback and give the Blades a win. Medicine Hat scored twice in the late third to tie the game, including a shorthanded goal with 1:15 to go by California native Emerson Etem. The Ducks first round pick last summer scored twice in the game. He has 32 goals on the year. The Tigers’ Linden Vey, also a Kings pick (4/2009) had three assists in the game to regain the WHL scoring lead with 95 points in 55 games (38 goals).

His career high for goals in 30, set in his draft year with the Hurricanes.

In addition to scoring the game’s opening goal, Panik scored the game deciding shootout goal to break a 2-2 shootout tie and give the Storm a much-needed win over division rival Kitchener. With the shootout goal, Panik made up for a roughing penalty late in overtime. With the win, Guelph moved up to seventh place in the Western Conference, 11 points ahead of ninth place Sarnia. The Storm is fourth in the Midwest Division, 13 points behind Owen Sound for first and one point ahead of Erie for fifth.
