Life, at least temporarily, without Allen York began for the Everblades Wednesday night after his recall to Syracuse earlier in the week as part of the ripple effect of the Ben Bishop injury. Gwinnett jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, but the Blades stormed back scoring five straight, topped off by Bolt prospect Artem Sergeev's power-play marker early in the 3rd that would become the eventual game-winner. Kevin Lynch, fresh off signing his AHL contract with Syracuse, tallied in his first game back with Florida. Both Jeff Costello and Mike Aviani had helpers in the five-goal run. Gwinnett, losers of four straight, will get another chance to end the East Division leader's six-game win streak on Friday night.

The Blades bent but didn't break in Saturday's 5-4 shootout win against visiting Indy, preserving a 5-game win streak behind Adam Brace's hat trick on teddy bear toss night. A roller coaster affair with Florida charging out of the gate with three 1st period goals and then the Fuel responding with three 2nd period goals. The Everblades peppered Indy with 48 shots, and Allen York was tested in the 2nd and 3rd periods giving up 4 goals before making 28 saves for his 12th win. York made three saves in OT and then stuffed all four Fuel shooters in the skills match to earn 3rd Star honors. Lightning camper Mike Aviano scored Florida's 2nd goal with Jeff Costello drawing an assist. The Gwinnett Gladiators roll into Estero for a pair of games this week.

Feels good to get the funk out. Wichita pasted the Mallards in a 5-zip shutout and Danick Gauthier notched two assist, one on the power play. Wichita returns to Tulsa Wednesday night to play Oilers.

The visiting Indy Fuel with former Bolt prospect Kirill Gotovets failed in a 3rd period two-goal rally against the Everblades in Estero. Lightning prospect Artem Sergeev assisted on what would be Mitch Wahl's 2nd period game winning marker. Allen York notched his 11th victory in light duty, seeing only 17 Indy shots. Florida owns the ECHLs best win percentage, sporting a gaudy 0.825 having won 4 straight and 9 of their 10 games and owning a +28 goal differential. The Blades and Fuel rematch Saturday night.

Quad City Mallards 3 at Wichita Thunder 1

F Danick Gauthier, WIC: 0-0-0, -3, 0 PIM, 5 SOG
Season totals (ECHL): 23 GP, 12-11-23, -2, 31 PIM, 79 SOG

After an extended road trip, the Thunder returned home for a tilt against the Quad City. Wichita Wichita feels like they have been in a funk since that 180+ PIM brawl in Elmira, and Lightning prospect Danick Gauthier is struggling defensively. On the ice for all three Mallard goals, Gauthier is mired in a mini-funk of his own after racking up 15 PIMs of his own in that raucous Jackals game. The Mallards leap-frogged the Thunder in the Central Division with Friday's win as Wichita rides a 3-game losing streak and only 4 wins in their last 10. No time to hang your head, Wichita takes on Rapid City Saturday night.

A statement game for the Blades. The Jackals rolled into Estero Wednesday night tied with the Everblades atop the East Division and found out what playing the team with the ECHL's best win percentage is like. After tripling up Elmira, Florida now leads the Jackals by two points with 5 games in hand. In fact, the Blades have games in hand on all the top teams in every division in the ECHL and still paces them in points. Allen York returned to the nets for Florida after missing several starts due an injury sustained on the extended road trip, cruising to his 10th win of the season amid light duty. Next up, former Bolt prospect Kirill Gotovets and the Indy Fuel motors into South Florida for back-to-back games this weekend.

Wichita Thunder 4 at Tulsa Oilers 7

F Danick Gauthier, WIC: 1-1-2, -2, 2 PIM, 3 SOG
Season totals (ECHL): 22 GP, 12-11-23, +1, 31 PIM, 74 SOG
Season totals (AHL): 1 GP, 0-0-0, -2, 2 PIM

D Daniel Milan, WIC: 0-0-0, -1, 10 PIM, 0 SOG
Season totals: 22 GP, 0-5-5, -3, 51 PIM, 24 SOG

Normally with Wichita's stingy defense, putting up four markers all but guarantees two points, but there are no guarantees when it comes to the Thunder beating arch-nemesis Tulsa this season. Now at a ridiculous 0-6 against the Oilers on the season, Thunder goalie Tim Boron gave up 7 while wasting his team's 41 shot, 4 goal effort. Bolt prospect Danick Gauthier knotted the game at 2 with a power-play tally early in the second period and then assisted on another power play goal early in the 3rd to draw the team up to 5-4 deficit. Frustration boiled over for the Thunder 30 seconds after Oilers scored a power play goal with 90 seconds left. The game had been chippy since the mid-point and with 80 seconds left, three Wichita players got 10-minute conducts for continuing altercations, including Bolt prospect Daniel Milan. Gauthier is tied for the ECHL lead in power-play goals. Wichita returns home Friday night after an extended road trip to square off against Quad City.

With Allen York sidelined with an injury, Florida's first ever game in Indy against the expansion Fuel was a wild affair with 13 goals scored. The Blades were ahead 6-3 at the 2nd intermission, but surrendered three 3rd period goals on 17 Indy shots. Jeff Costello notched his 4th goal of the season about 7 minutes into the 3rd that would stand as the eventual game winner. Lightning camper Mike Aviani would get the primary assist on Costello's marker. Fuel rookie blueliner Kirill Gotovets, a former Lightning 2009 7th round pick, played his 13th game of the season tonight for Indy. Gotovets signed an AHL contract in September with Chicago Blackhawks' AHL affiliate in Rockford and was reassigned by Rockford to Indy in October. Gotovets, a graduate of Cornell, had his rights traded to Chicago by Tampa in April 2012 for current BP Prospect-of-the-Week Philippe Paradis. Florida returns to Estero for a Wednesday home tilt against Elmira before Indy rolls into South Florida for back-to-back games next weekend.

Wichita Thunder 1 at Brampton Beast 3

F Danick Gauthier, WIC: 0-0-0, -2, 0 PIM, 4 SOG
Season totals (ECHL): 19 GP, 8-10-18, +3, 12 PIM, 61 SOG
Season totals (AHL): 1 GP, 0-0-0, -2, 2 PIM

D Daniel Milan, WIC: 0-0-0, E, 2 PIM, 5 SOG
Season totals: 19 GP, 0-3-3, -3, 34 PIM, 21 SOG

Not the homecoming Daniel Milan was looking for as the Thunder rolled into Brampton for Milan's first game against his old team. He did put up a season-high 5 shots, but Beast goalie Trevor Cann turned away 45 Thunder shots, upstaging Wichita netminder and Edmonton Oiler prospect Tyler Bunz who currently sports the ECHL's 2nd stingiest goals-against-average (Allen York is 4th). Followers of the Florida Everblades will recall that Cann was acquired last season by the Blades when Lightning prospect Kristers Gudlevskis was recalled to the Syracuse Crunch after parting ways with Riku Helenius. Cann appeared in 29 games for Florida last season posting a 15-10-1 record. The Beast also managed to do what few Central Division teams have been able to accomplish and that is keeping the Wichita Wizard Danick Gauthier off the scoreboard. The road trip for the Thunder continues Sunday in upstate NY against the Elmira Jackals.
