One game after having his point streak stopped at 10 games, Fadden came up big for the Everblades, scoring twice to help the team snap a 3-game losing streak. Fadden’s goals extended Florida’s leads to 2-0 and 4-1. The first came on a strong move to the net and the second on a slap shot from the top of the left circle, according to the Everblades. Janus, who was getting extra practice time with the coaching staff Wednesday, watched as Bobby Goepfert stopped 35 of 37 for the game’s First Star award. Hutchings, meanwhile, hasn’t registered a point in 5 games. Fadden, who had a game-high 8 shots, now sits in fourth in the league in scoring with 19 points, 2 behind Elmira’s Michael Dubuc and Justin Donati.

Florida came into Greenville with a chance to put some distance between them and the Road Warriors in the division, but dropped all 3 games and are now 1 point behind Greenville and 5 behind Gwinnett. Fadden had his point streak stopped at 10 games.

Fadden extended his point streak to 10 games, but the Everblades were doubled-up by the Road Warriors, 6-3. This wasn’t as close as the score appeared as Greenville had a 4-0 early in the third period. Fadden’s goal came on the power play. Florida is 7-6 on the year, 4 points behind Greenville for first in the South Division.

Florida’s winning streak was stopped at three games after the Stingrays broke a 3-3 third period tie with 2 goals. Mitch Fadden had a puck deflect off of him into the net for his third goal of the year. He extended his point streak to 6 games with a 2 point night. Hutching tied for the team lead with 6 shots. Former Lightning prospect and Everblades Captain Mike Egener scored his first goal of the year and recently signed winger Nick Tarnasky, also a former Lightning prospect, had an assist in his Florida debut. Egener (pictured) had 11 goals last year for the Ontario Reign of the ECHL. His previous career high was 3 goals with Lightning AHL affiliate Springfield in 2004-2005. This includes his WHL career, also.

On Saturday night Janus stopped 40 shots, plus all 4 shootout attempts by the Wings for his second win. Hutchings and Fadden both participated in the shootout, but neither converted their attempts. Fadden extended his point streak to 5 games with an assist. He has 9 points in that span.

Janus watched from the bench both games against the Wings. The teams will play again Saturday night.

Florida scored three times in the third period to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 3-2 win over previously unbeaten Kalamazoo. Hutchings’ first professional goal was the game winner, scored at 13:20 of the third period. Mitch Fadden wasn’t in the lineup, and may have been recalled to Norfolk after Blair Jones was called up from the Admirals to the Lightning. Hutchings had 47 goals and 34 assists for 81 points in 68 games last year for Barrie of the OHL. Former Lightning second rounder Mike Egener was scoreless in the game. He is serving as captain of the Everblades.

ECHL Update

The Tampa Bay Lightning have three prospects playing with the Florida Everblades, their new ECHL affiliate, so far this season.

The Everblades began the year with a 3-2 shootout win over Gwinnett (Mitch Fadden game winner) before dropping the second of back-to-back games with the Gladiators 5-3. This past weekend, Florida went 1-2, losing to Greenville and Gwinnett 4-1 and 5-2, respectively, and defeating Greenville 7-6 in overtime.
