Florida had their 7-game win streak snapped by division-leading Greenville, falling 2-1 at home Friday night. Fadden’s 10th goal of the year opened the game’s scoring, but Florida couldn’t add another goal against former Harvard goalie Dov Grummet-Morris. Alex Hutchings started the game on a line with Fadden in the absence of the team’s second leading scorer, Francis Lemieux, who was given a tryout with AHL Manitoba, and Matthew Pistilli, who was called up to AHL Charlotte. The Everblades were already missing Alex Imbeault, who is out with an injury. Lightning prospect goaltender Jaroslav Janus didn’t dress for the game due to an illness.

Florida won their seventh in a row despite a goose egg on the scoreboard from the ECHL’s leading scorer, Mitch Fadden. Fadden saw his point streak ended at seven games, though he did score in the shootout. Alex Hutchings could not build on his four point night last time out, and failed to convert his shootout attempt. With the win, the Everblades pulled within two points of Greenville for the South Division lead at 16-9-0-0. Greenville has two games in hand on Florida.

That’s more like it! Alex Hutchings, who scored 47 goals last year for Barrie in the OHL but has struggled somewhat in his rookie pro year, erupted for three goals and four points as the Everblades won their sixth in a row Saturday night, defeating Cincinnati 5-3. Hutchings (pictured while with Barrie) benefited from playing on a line with ECHL scoring leader Mitch Fadden, who extended his point streak to seven games and had his third three-point night in four outings, assisting on all three of Hutchings’ goals. Fadden has 10 points in his last four games, and 19 in his last 10. Though AHL Norfolk is rolling offensively, Fadden may be forcing his way into the lineup.
