Fargo was up 5-1 in the 11th minute when Waterloo went on the power play. They pulled their goalie and scored, making it 5-2, then did it again for a 5 on 3 immediately after and scored again, making it 5-3. Mullin scored into the empty net in the 13th minute, then Fargo scored 2 more empty netters, in the 15th and 18th minute while Waterloo had extra attackers. The game also featured a line brawl where all 10 players were ejected with 5 minutes to go. Old time hockey! (except without 2 goalies)

WHL

Team WHL 2 vs. Team Russia 5
RW Brett Connolly, WHL: 1-0-1, 0 PIM

Russia finish the six-game Canada-Russia Subway Superseries with a 4-1-1 record versus the CHL for their first series win in the eight-year history of the event. They had won just two games in the series – in 2004 and ’07 – prior to this year. Lightning prospect Brett Connolly, playing in front of his home crowd, scored for the WHL. At that time, however, the Dub was already down 4-0 in the third period. Calvin Pickard (Avalanche) of the Seattle Thunderbirds stopped 19 of 23 shots in a losing cause for Team WHL.

North American Juniors Game Night: 11/17/10

Season totals: 23 GP, 9-14-23, 8 PIM

D Geoffrey Schemitsch, OS: Did not play.
Season totals: 18 GP, 1-10-11, +9, 2 PIM

Panik is still more than a point-per-gamer, even though he has “just” 7 points in his last 12 games. Schemitsch missed his third game due to an “upper body injury.” He’s listed as day-to-day. Belleville had leads of 1-0, 2-1, and 3-2 in this game before the Attack exploded for a snowman.

WHL

Team WHL 6 vs. Team Russia 7 (SO)
RW Carter Ashton, WHL: 1-0-1, 2 PIM (slashing)

The WHL scored the game’s first 3 goals, but allowed its last 3 and eventually lost in a shootout. Russia is now 3-2 in the Canada-Russia Subway Super Series after sweeping the Q and being swept in Ontario. Omsk’s Sergei Kalinin (1+2, undrafted) was player of the game for Russia, while Prince Albert’s Brandon Herrod (1+0, undrafted) won the WHL’s award. Lightning prospect Brett Connolly will serve as an alternate captain for the WHL in their final game against Russia in Connolly’s hometown of Prince George on Thursday. He didn’t play in Wednesday’s game in Kamloops. Ashton, who scored the game's first goal in Wednesday's game, will not play in Prince George.

North American Juniors Game Night: 11/17/10

BCHL

Penticton Vees 4 @ Salmon Arm Silverbacks 5
C Brendan O’Donnell, PEN: 1-2-3, 0 PIM, *Second Star*
Season totals: 22 GP, 9-11-19, 8 PIM

O’Donnell’s first game back from his time with Canada West in the World Junior A Challenge was a good one for him personally, as he scored once and added two assists, but the Vees fell on the road to Salmon Arm, 5-4. O’Donnell’s goal, scored with six seconds left in the second period, tied the game at 3 for Penticton. All his points came in the second period. O’Donnell is now second on the Vees in scoring, eight points behind left-handed defenseman Joey Laleggia, who was passed over in the 2010 draft. Laleggia, listed at 5’10”, is headed to the University of Denver next year. Laleggia was the first-ever B.C. Major Midget league hockey player to receive a verbal scholarship commitment to play hockey for an NCAA Div.1 school at 15-years-old, and actually committed to New Hampshire. UNH and LeLeggia agreed to go in separate directions this summer, reportedly.
