Moncton played their first game since October 29 thanks to a flu-cancelled game against Montreal and a long layoff. The Wildcats lost the shootout 2-1 after leading 1-0 at the completion of round 1.

Ashton extended his point streak to seven games with his 10th goal of the season as the Hurricanes beat first place Calgary 3-2. Lethbridge was 0-7 on the power play compared to Calgary’s 2-5. The Hurricanes, who won their third game in a row, climbed out of the cellar with the win and now stand at 8-11-2-0 on the year, 14 points behind Calgary in the Central Division.

USHS Update – Bauer NIT Tournament

Shattuck advanced to the Bauer NIT Tournament (New Hope, Minnesota) championship game with an 8-1 win over the Dallas Stars and a 7-1 win over the MDHL U-18 White team. They fell hard to a good Minnesota Red squad in the finals, 10-3. Warroad HS senior and North Dakota commit Brock Nelson, a possible Mr. Hockey candidate in Minnesota, had a hat trick for Red. Gotovets, a Cornell commit, played in two of the three games and did not register a point.

That’s now six losses in a row for Zador, though he was rewarded for a strong effort against the defending OHL champs with the Third Star award. Panik is scoreless in two games and three of his last four.

Sointu missed Saturday’s game, but was back in the lineup Sunday. Ottawa finished their three game weekend 1-2.
