Sherbrooke showed up in a big way in Game 2, avenging an 8-2 Game 1 loss with a 7-4 win. Cam Darcy was first star for his hat trick and five points. Game 3 is Monday on PEI.

Quebec evened the series with a shutout win Saturday on the back of goaltender Callum Booth (2015 eligible), the surprise series starter over Montreal pick and Team Canada goaltender Zach Fucale. The series now switches to Sydney, Nova Scotia, for the next three games starting Tuesday.

DeAngelo had two assists to extend his overall point streak to 27 games, though the league only recognizes 25 as the regular season ended. Game 3 is Tuesday in Michigan.

Charlottetown score eight goals in about a 13-minute span of the second period to demolish the home-sided Phoenix, 8-2, and take a 1-0 lead in their first round series. Game 2 is Saturday in Sherbrooke.

Cape Breton walked into Colisée Pepsi and stole home ice advantage from the Remparts, winning 3-2 Friday. The Eagles were up 2-0 before Erne scored Quebec’s first goal of the playoffs. Cape Breton scored again to go up 3-1 and Quebec cut the lead to one again, but couldn’t complete the comeback. Game 2 is Saturday at Quebec.

Anthony DeAngelo had the primary assist on the Soo’s first goal to extend his point streak to 25 games. He finishes the season with 89 points, and the Greyhounds finish the season with the league’s top overall seed. DeAngelo won the OHL and CHL scoring title for defensemen by 18 points. He was 25 points better the third place finishers, which included the WHL and QMJHL leading defensive scorers.

Calgary won the Central Division title by one point over Medicine Hat, thanks to a win over Kootenay on Sunday. Thomas finishes the year with the same point total as last year, but achieved in 12 fewer games. Calgary swept its weekend series with the Ice, and now gets them again in the first round of the playoffs.
