The ‘Blades outshot the Stingrays, 43-28, but fell in a shootout to their division rivals, 5-4. Lightning prospects Alex Hutchings (pictured) and Charles Landry both hit the scoresheet for Florida. Pat Nagle got the night off in goal and Daniel Milan remains out with an injury. Last year’s playoff hero, John Muse, made 23 saves in the Florida nets. Mike Ullrich had three assists for South Carolina. Florida scored twice in the second half of the third period to force overtime. Landry took a hooking penalty in overtime, thought the ‘Blades were able to kill it off. The shootout was tied, 2-2, after two rounds, including Hutchings’ goal. The Stingrays won the skills competition, 3-2, in five rounds. South Carolina will drive up to Orlando for a game on Thursday night before returning to southwest Florida for a Friday contest.
