Both teams closed the first two periods knotted at two goals each but Toledo pulled ahead and soon after added an insurance goal in the third period to bring Florida's five-game winning streak to an abrupt end. Fatigue may have been a significant factor for the Everblades, who were playing their third game in four nights at the tail end of a lengthy road trip, as they struggled to generate consistent offensive momentum, managing just twenty shots in a match that was played almost entirely at even-strength. John Muse made his sixth-straight start and stopped thirty of thirty-four shots in the contest. After missing the last two matches, Pat Nagle returned to the lineup to serve as Muse's backup. Alex Hutchings, who produced at just over a point-per-game clip in November, is scoreless in the three games he's played in December since returning from extended absence. Maxime Langelier-Parent, still out due to injury, remains inactive. Florida (13-9-5, 31 PTS), now returns home for to begin a five-game home-and-home series spanning ten days against division-rival Orlando (10-14-4, 24 PTS) on Wednesday.
