How Many Games?

How many games will it take before Lightning faithful begin to see what everyone else does? Before the Message Board posters take a step back and realize the Emperor has no clothes? Before the Lightning power play using the same umbrella scheme and similar personnel begins to frustrate again? Before the 600-pound gorilla missing shots wide on Richards' Left Wing is noticed or addressed? Before even the most ardent Luke Richardson supporters admit he's lost more than a step? Before the trumpeters of Filip Kuba attain an inkling of his struggles grasping Ramsay's system? Before all the baseless confidence entrusted to Marc Denis in net is eroded away by multiple goals against each night? Before Lightning Nation puts down its collective Kool-Aid and sees Jay Feaster's summer offerings for what they were?

How many games will it take before Lightning faithful begin to see what everyone else does? 82+ and counting. Before the Message Board posters take a step back and realize the Emperor has no clothes? Hopefully sooner than later. Before the Lightning power play using the same umbrella scheme and similar personnel begins to frustrate again? 49 HRS 17 MINS and counting. Before the 600-pound gorilla missing shots wide on Richards' Left Wing is noticed or addressed? You couldn't be talking about that "goal scorer" thats hung around for the last 5-6 years.... Before even the most ardent Luke Richardson supporters admit he's lost more than a step? A team as defensively deficient as Columbus didn't let him re-sign him for a reason. Before the trumpeters of Filip Kuba attain an inkling of his struggles grasping Ramsay's system? Question is, how long til people put the "IN" in Kuba.... Before all the baseless confidence entrusted to Marc Denis in net is eroded away by multiple goals against each night? Thats not baseless confidence, it's a catch 22 of sorts....for Denis, there's no way this can be worse than Columbus....for the Bolts, there's no way Denis can be worse than Grahame.... Before Lightning Nation puts down its collective Kool-Aid and sees Jay Feaster's summer offerings for what they were? You mean the lopsided talent/ability deficiency between the top and bottom 2 lines?

You're being an optomist

There was no way the Lightning was going to win the cup in '04 either. That is until game 7 of the Eastern Cup finals. About 5 minutes in, I looked at my buddy sitting next to me and "Ah sh*t, Philly's lost their legs, we're going to make it." A whole string of improbables came together that year. Foremost, Kubina had the only year that anyone in Lightning nation ever appreciated. Pratt and Sarich played the playoffs like they were possessed, Vinny put on his last great stand to date, Marty had the career year of career years, Khabby who was fighting for his job against Grahame (of all people) through most of the year turned the switch on at play-off time. I'm not giving that year back because it was fluky and I'm not cashing this one in yet because it might not be. Everybody at that level is good. It's the chemistry more than anything that shakes the pretenders from the contenders. Didn't see you comment on that, because it's too soon to know.

There was barely any

There was barely any chemistry last year, exclude Richard's line and it was next to zero....one pairing of "D" finally came together near the second half of the season, but the others were a bit of a mess, especially watching the downslide of Sarich, unless he was/is playing injured, his downfall is looking quite Sydor-esque.... If this team is going with the roster it is now, they should just ice 3 hard working lines, leave the fourth line of AHL/Euro league fodder for the press box.... Prospal-Lecavalier-Perrin Fedotenko-Richards-St. Louis Craig-Taylor-Tarnasky (if you become REALLY desperate, you can ice the KAA line for the 4th) (Kant Aim Anywhere) Karlsson-Alexeev-Afansenkov Boyle-Kuba Ranger-Janik Richardson-Sarich I'm keeping my fingers crossed for chemistry....but last year they HOPED for it, and missed, this time they're gluing anything they can together and hoping for the same result....

I like the humor in the KAA line

I didn't see any chemistry even in the pre-season last year. Everybody was fat and happy and not seemingly looking forward to absorbing the pain it took to win. Also, we were trying to decide which #6 d-man would be less crappy to start the season. And Bling-Bling emerged as the cream-of-the-crap. This year Janik actually beat someone out and looked like he could be useful in doing it. The chemistry appears better, good - I'm not so sure, championship level - no way to tell. Denis giving up 3 or 4 in a bad game will be less miserable than last year's 6 or 7. It might also allow us to stay in enough more games to improve our paly-off seeding.

Denis reminds me of...

Patrick Roy and Grant Fuhr....goalies that realize the "W" is more important than stats....
