Longtime KHL star Danis Zaripov had 1 goal and 4 points to help lead Magnitogorsk to their Cup clinching 7-4 win over Praha in Game Seven of the Gagarin Cup Finals. Former Red Wings farmhand Francis Pare chipped in 1 goal and 1 assist in the win and former Lightning draft pick Dmitri Kazionov also had a helper in the match for Metallurg. Vasily Koshechkin wins his first Gagarin Cup and the victory also marks the first time the Gagarin Cup was won by a non-Russian coach as Metallurg's bench boss this season was none other than Iron Mike Keenan.
