Left Winger Needed

With today's expected signing of LW Afanasenkov, along with LW Prospal and LW Craig (to be signed), seems like we need to find some scoring help from the left side for the third/fourth lines. We have some depth at center and RW position, but LW a question. Depth Chart shows Blatny and the next guy in line, but seems like we need help there as Blatny may or may not be the guy. Ideal if we could move Burke's salary and pickup LW scorer. Looks like 'D' is now in-place - how bout some more 'O'.

RW/LW

I think they'll move someone over. We have some good ones around the corner in Kvapil, Keller, Smolenak and Lascek, but they're not ready. It's kind of a shame. I imagine they'll move Alexeev or a RWer over to play the left side if necessary. Of course Craig could still make his mark up there. Trading Burke may only get us under the cap. Adding anything else would put us back over.

Alexeev is a LW

Nikita is a natural LW, or at least as natural as a 6'5" dispassionate lump can be.

A lump of Coal

Agreed he was a lump of coal. Lot's and Lot's of the wonderful 'P' word, POTENTIAL, but he never brought it to the house. Maybe this last gasp chance will work out for both parties but I am not counting on it.

Cap Space for Move

Believe Bolts sitting at $39+ mil with 3 signings to go - Craig, Artykhin and Sarich, which should add another $2.5 mil or so for a total projected payroll of $41.5 to $42 mil, which is $2 mil under the CBA cap. That includes Burke's $1.6 mil. We could still move Burke and go with Holqvist as our backup and that move would potentially freeup up to a mil or so that could toward acquiring a scoring-type LW for the 3rd/4th lines. zepdog

Burke's Money Still Will Count

Even if Holmqvist is the backup and Burke is demoted, his number will count against the cap.

Not if Burke Traded

zepdog hopefully we could deal Burke and not demote him so we could create the needed cap space as we did with Sydor contract.
