Lynx Sign Goalie Mike Brodeur
Augusta Lynx Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations John Marks announced today that the Lynx have agreed to terms with free agent goaltender Mike Brodeur. Brodeur, a 2003 7th round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks, played 13 AHL games for Norfolk and Rockford between the 2004-05 and 2007-08 seasons. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound netminder is a veteran of 88 career ECHL games with a record of 46-34-8 and a 0.922 save percentage and 2.65 GAA. Marks has coached Brodeur twice before at Pensacola and Greenville. "Mike's a reliable goaltender who has the talent to play in the NHL," Marks said. "I'm very excited to be working with him again."
Veteran Lynx netminder Joel Martin was released from his contract today after struggling in 3 starts with a 4.08 GAA and a 0.867 save percentage. Lightning prospect Riku Helenius is among the rookie goaltending leaders in the ECHL with a record of 2-0-1 and a 0.924 save percentage and 2.53 GAA in 3 starts.
Lighting training camp invitee Sean O'Connor was also released from his contract today by the Lynx.
