NA Juniors Game Night: 1-5-2014

Ontario Hockey League

Kitchener Rangers 3 @ North Bay Battalion 6

D Dylan Blujus, NB: 0-2-2, +5, 0 PIM
Season totals: 28 GP, 3-10-13, -9, 34 PIM
2012-13 totals: 68 GP, 2-27-29, -8, 57 PIM

Blujus had two assists and a career-best plus-5 rating on Sunday to give him back-to-back multiple point games. Hopefully this helps him break out offensively a bit more.

Windsor Spitfires 2 @ Kingston Frontenacs 4

D Slater Koekkoek, WSR: 0-0-0, -2, 2 PIM
Season totals: 39 GP, 10-22-32, +37, 24 PIM
2012-13 totals: 40 GP, 6-23-29, -24, 28 PIM

Koekkoek was a rare minus-2 as the Spits fell to Henri Ikonen’s Frontenacs. Ikonen won gold with Team Finland in the World Junior Championships on Sunday and will re-join Kingston soon. Keep an eye on Koekkoek in the coming days as the OHL trade deadline approaches. Windsor has already dumped key pieces for prospects and picks. They are fifth in the West, nine points behind the top-4, which have separated themselves from the pack. Windsor is on a 2-game losing streak and is 6-4 in their last 10 games. They could keep Koekkoek and take their chances against the 4-seed in the first round, or they could trade him and get a significant return knowing Koekkoek will be a pro next year.
