UNO had a 2-0 lead on the Pioneers going into the second period, but Denver scored four goals on 21 shots in the second period alone and went on to a 5-3 win. Oldham has been getting spot starts, and on the road against a top-3 team was a big task for the freshman.

JT Brown’s alma mater defeated the Gophers 3-2 Friday in the opener of the North Star College Cup in St. Paul, Minnesota. Alex Iafallo, who has camped with the Lightning for two straight summers, had a goal for UMD. Iafallo will be a free agent at season’s end. The hard-working winger has 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points in 25 games this year.
