Gotovets was back in the Cornell lineup after missing the Big Red’s last two games because of an undisclosed injury. He helped Cornell to win Game 1 between the two large colors, 4-3 in double overtime. He earned the secondary assist on the overtime winner scored by Sean Whitney (undrafted), his first goal of the season. Game 2 is Saturday at Cornell.

Yale stole Game 1 against their hated rivals by beating the Crimson in overtime in Harvard’s barn. Penguins pick Kenny Agostino had the game winner, his 14th goal of the year. Game 2 is Saturday night at Harvard.

Mullin scored two goals in his first collegiate playoff game and was named first star as the RedHawks crushed visiting Michigan State 6-0 on Friday. Mullin, who scored on a rebound and again on a backhander, has nine points in his last three games. His eight shots on goal led Miami. Game 2 is Saturday in Oxford, Ohio.

Note: Brendan O’Donnell (North Dakota) is out for the season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

Quinnipiac Bobcats 2 @ Colgate Raiders 4
ECAC Quarterfinals: Colgate leads best-of-3 series 1-0

The Raiders drew first blood in their quarterfinal series with Quinnipiac when Colgate got two third period goals to break a 2-2 tie with the Bobcats. Lightning prospect Matt Peca extended his point streak to six games with an assist. The two teams play again Saturday at Colgate. Though Colgate is seeded higher in the tournament, Quinnipiac is ahead of the Raiders in votes in the latest USCHO poll. Both teams are just outside the top-20. Earlier on Friday, Peca, Cornell forward Brian Ferlin, and Harvard defenseman Patrick McNally were named finalists for the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year Award.

Witkowski registered a point for the fifth time in six games as the Broncos took Game 1 of their CCHA quarterfinal series against LSSU, 4-2. Coveted NCAA free agent defenseman Dan DeKeyser had an assist on WMU’s empty net goal and was plus-2 for the Broncos. According to the Tampa Tribune, the Lightning have a good shot at signing DeKeyser if he chooses to leave school after the season. Game 2 is Saturday night in the Zoo (at WMU).
