You could make an argument that the Lightning outplayed the best team in the league tonight. They outshot them 23-21, and they probably outchanced them, too. But, the same things that have doomed the season for the Lightning are the same things that just allowed St. Louis to hit 100 points: goaltending, special teams, and details.

St. Louis' goaltenders are tops in the league in GAA. The Lightning's? Dead last.

St. Louis' power play as scored the 12th most goals in the league. The Lightning's? 25th.

St. Louis is 11th in the league in shorthanded goals. The Lightning? Dead last.

St. Louis is 4th best in the league in shorthanded goals against. The Lightning? Second to last.

It's not complicated to figure out where things went wrong for this club, both tonight and throughout the season. However, addressing those things may be complicated for a General Manager who hasn't been able to get the situation between the pipes quite right over his first two years with the team and a coaching staff that has seemed incapable of addressing the team's special teams issues all year long.

Keith Aulie had 1 hit and 1 blocked shot in 9:42. The fact Aulie can't seem to even get 12 minutes of ice time from this coaching staff every night is very troubling, especially considering what the team gave up to acquire him.

Tim Wallace had an assist and was +1 with 1 shot and 1 hit in 9:44. Wallace played in his 40th game of the season tonight, meaning he will graduate from prospect status with 1 more appearance in the lineup for the Lightning this year.

Trevor Smith had 1 shot in 12:55.

J.T. Wyman had 1 blocked shot in 12:14.
