Prospect of the Week: 10-28-14

We continue our Bolt Prospect of the Week award, an honor (virtually) given to one Tampa Bay Lightning prospect for his recent contributions on and off the ice.

The Bolt Prospect of the Week for October 28, 2014 is … Adam Erne, Quebec Remparts (QMJHL – Canada).

Adam Erne is turning the QMJHL into his personal playground, and littering that playground are hats. Lots and lots of hats.

Erne started last week with a hat trick and an assist in a 9-4 shellacking of Chicoutimi. Not satisfied with his new collection of les beaux chapeaux, he had another hatter in a 5-4 overtime win in Acadie-Bathurst on Friday. To add to the drama, his third goal of the night was the overtime winner.

Erne added an assist on Saturday and was plus-1 on Sunday as Quebec extended their win-streak to four games. For all his recent accomplishments, he is our Prospect of the Week.

Tampa Bay’s second round pick (#33 overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft now has 10 goals and 18 points in just 11 games since being reassigned to Quebec from Tampa Bay during training camp. Erne, who is coming off wrist surgery, projects as a physical, top-6 power forward at the NHL level and could flirt with a spot with the Lightning as soon as next season. His Remparts host the Memorial Cup this spring, so he’s committed to Quebec through most of May. He could join the Lightning practice squad (Black Aces) or Syracuse when Quebec’s season is over if one of the pro clubs is still alive in the postseason.
