Prospect of the Week (12.14.11)

This season Bolt Prospects introduced our Prospect of the Week award, an honor (virtually) given to one Tampa Bay Lightning prospect for their on-ice contributions. There are no trophies or plaques, but we’re fairly certain Brendan Shanahan will make a video about it.

Quite simply, we wanted to highlight prospects throughout the year to help fans get better acquainted with the next round of Lightning stars while recognizing the prospect’s achievement on the ice.

This week’s BP Prospect of the Week award goes to … our first repeat winner, Vladislav Namestnikov, Center, London Knights (OHL – Canada)

The Lightning’s first round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft had five points over the weekend, including a career high four assists in a 7-4 London win over Peterborough Friday night. Namestnikov’s four points in the game tied a career high set last February against Barrie. The young Russian center had another assist Sunday against Guelph to give him 38 points (16 goals) in 31 games this season, good enough for 15th in league scoring and second on his team behind ex-Lightning rookie camper Seth Griffith.

Namestnikov, who won our Prospect of the Week award on November 14, is expected to suit up for Russia with fellow Lightning prospects Nikita Nesterov and Nikita Kucherov in the upcoming U20 World Junior Championships.
