...Ranked 61st among North Americans by Central Scouting (Or I have that wrong)...
Why do I bring him up? He's a Florida boy. OK, before I link to the article, be forewarned -- he's not only a Florida boy but a SP's fan... Regardless, how often do products from Florida get taken in the NHL draft? http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2010/0...nthers-fandom/ |

Looking through USHL and EJHL rosters I am amazed at the amount of Floridians on teams now..so it's only a matter of time I suppose. I went to Michigan to play junior hockey back in 2002 and there were 3 other Floridians on my team up there. |

I believe the Nashville Predators drafted the first-ever Florida-born player -- Blake Geoffrion -- in the 2nd round of the 2006 draft. He was born in Plantation, FL and won this year's Hobey Baker award as the best collegiate player. He was a senior for the University of Wisconsin.
He's also the grandson of Habs cult-hero Bernie "Boom-Boom" Geoffrion.

Wasn't Dan Hinote born in Florida? Not raised there, however.

Hinote doesn't consider himself Floridian though. I don't think.
Regardless, it'd be a very big PR pickup for the Cats to get this guy. Home-town-boy and all that. Sometimes I wish the Bolts would take a flyer out and pick someone out of the SEJHL / MET with local ties (Junior C level play though -- so not happening). |

IIRC, wasn't Dallas Eakins also born here as well?

Yeah, Eakins was a Florida product.
