I think it's also possible with VAN giving up Schneider, they are going to want a goalie prospect coming back -- which means that while Connolly "looks good" as a BC native and dealing from our strength of prospect forwards, VAN might actually want Dustin Tokarski coming back instead of Connolly.
Eddie Lack is waiting in the wings, too, so they may not strongly push for Tic going back. One could possibly argue Lack and Tic are a wash.

Far more would have to be offered from us. I doubt Connolly + Det 1st will get Schneider, let alone Raymond.

If it were Connolly + TBL 1st for Schneider + Raymond, then you might be getting close. I do not endorse this, though.

You could probably get the 18 adult, 2 child room rates.

Sorry, sorry. Someone had to say it.

How serious is this amnesty clause talk among owners and player reps? Or is this just fans and pundits talking. After the last lockout and the Draconian $38k cap limit, there was no amnesty clause then, and that's when it would have really made sense. I'm not yet convinced this amnesty talk has any substance, but I'm open to being convinced.

Except Crosby was 18 and Conacher is 22 with 4 years of college living and a year of pro hockey under his belt. He's a full grown man and probably doesn't need a surrogate dad.

Default Doubts

I have real doubts SFY trades Connolly. That was his first draft pick, represents a a new order and that would look like he is giving up on the kid. Plus Connolly is just starting to look like he belongs and if he works out with Gary Roberts this summer he will be a lot stronger and better able to withstand the grind of the NHL. At the end this year he just looked like a guy who was getting ready to explode on the ice, who was starting to realize his talent, thus I doubt he gets traded.

No way they do that. Elliott is a one year wonder, they wouldn't go into next season with him as their starter unless the deal was too good to be true.

I've not seen this talked about outside of a few Canadian outlets, mostly HNIC.

The Nucks would want someone that could be transitioned into their system and waiting in the wings to be able to take over in net.
They'll use one of the draft picks we give them on a goaltender.

Please bear in mind that while Connolly was technically an Yzerman pick, he was also Hammett's last pick, and Yzerman seems to not value Hammett's kids as highly.

Again, Brett Connolly would not be the thing that stops me from getting the goaltender we need to win Cups. Vinik's money can buy scoring. It can't buy goaltending.

Think we could swing a deal with Vancouver after July 1st if we can't land Vokoun, or is it wishful thinking to suggest that another team won't swoop in and take him Schneider at the draft and then be outbid on Vokoun?

I don't think we should overpay for Schneider if there are other options out there.
