My question still stands. Let me put it this way, would YOU send Halak on his merry way and downgrade to an Elliott-Tokarski tandem if YOU were Doug Armstrong?

By the way, both Halak and Elliott are signed through 2013-2014. At that juncture, sure, but I don't think St. Louis will feel much, if any, temptation to seriously entertain any offers for Halak now.

They traded Bishop and need a good goalie for their AHL team and who will need a year or so of seasoning before moving up to the big club, Tic. Could be that guy for them.
No doubt Tokarski would be a welcome addition to their farm club but probably not as one of the key pieces in a deal that ships off their #1a starter.

I am just not sure that the Nucks trade, because i am not sure they have a lot of confidence in Lu, Schneider unless they have no choice and am still not sure Schneider is the answer.
I am 99% more certain the Canucks will be trading a goalie this summer as opposed to the Blues, I can tell you that much. The Canucks have had to be cap conscious for several seasons now and are facing the possibility of having to allot upwards of $8 million to their goalies if they intend on holding onto both Luongo and Schneider. Could they throw caution to the wind and do it? Sure. Will they? Probably not.

1-2 years they may not have with Lack though as IIRC he becomes a group VI UFA after next season. So he would need to get some GP next season or they could lose him.

Imagine that Luongo, Schneider, Lack at the end of 11-12 season, just Lu left after 12-13, that could be quite the comedown.

St. Louis will not move one of their goalies this summer or probably next summer. Why would they? They are both signed reasonably affordably and the team is set up to go for cups for the next 2 years. Plus if one gets hurt, you can have the other.

I think Vancouver moves Schneider. It would be a magic trick for Vancouver to get someone to take Luongo's contract. I think he stays and they bring up Lack or sign a vet FA. The value for Schneider is too high NOT to trade him in my opinion.

May be the Nucks want to have Garon in the package so they would have a solid Backup which could play between the pipes for one year and than Lack might be ready.
Wouldn't have to much problems with that, what about Greiss as a backup?? Love him and SJS has 3 goalies
I would dance around the table if we get Schneider and Greiss

Default Ok

NHLJ, if I am Doug Armstrong I am looking around to see if there might be dance partners who might overpay for a goalie, knowing that in 2 years I will have to part with one of them. Maybe not this year but for sure before their contracts run out. That is just good planning. I would prefer Halak, if we could get him for a negotiable price and probably overpay because everyone in the league knows we are desperate for a good goalie. I honestly do not think that the Nucks will trade Schneider, he is their insurance on Lu, especially if Lu craps again in the playoffs. Crap maybe they offer Lu cheaper than Schneider, not sure I would take Lu, but who knows. I have real doubts that Schneider will be available and that we would be remiss not to look for other dance partners.
My whole posting is about looking for other deals, and not just putting all our eggs in one basket. I hope that makes sense.

Default Conagher

So does Cory have a good chance of making the team in the fall?

at first I thought you meant, Cory Schneider. My first thought was we need to trade for him first. Then, I realized you are most likely talking about Conacher.

I certainly don't think they are going to send him down for developmental reasons...

I'm really intrigued what the price for Schneider is going to be, and whether or not he's even on the table if LOLuongo and the rest of VAN shit the bed in the first round. Don't want to give up Connolly, nor do I want to give up our 1st if we have a shot at a stud d-man (Dumba please!). Ideally something around Detroit's first, another top 60 pick and /or a prospect... but there's a lot of guys in Admirals uniforms I don't want to see gone. Obviously you have to give to get, but when the Avs gave up a damn lottery pick for Varlamov last year...

I don't see much a difference between Bernier and Tic except Bernier has a little more experience. I'd rather not pay the same price for him. Or much of anything, really.

In short: Suter, Schneider, and Dumba. Get it done, SFY.
