Default Price

The price for Schneider will start with the 10th pick, probably include Garon or Tic plus another prospect or pick. I think Pete was right when he mentioned Connolly, they really need secondary scoring other than the Sedin's who are getting up there in age. I can live with giving up the 10th because we could then get a kid like Finn with the DRW pick and thenEbert and maybe Severson in the second round, because we need Dmen in the system. We also have to be concerned about secondary scoring and that Marty and Vinny are getting older and we have to, shudder here, be ready to have people to fill their spots on the team. I am not ready to give up onConnolly at this point in particular after his effort at the end of the season, I think we saw flashes of what he can do and the type of player he can become, we hope. In a way I am glad I am not the GM so I do not make those decisions only pontificate about those decisions. What if they ask for Conagher, or Tyler Johnson or Panik, would you trade one of them over Connolly? Interesting questions to think about and if the price is too high, then will you walk away?

Schneider is now Vancouver's #1 and I'll be shocked if they trade him. They are going to wait until after the new CBA is negotiated before they decide how to proceed.

I dunno if he's officially anointed despite luongo's derps, but I get the feeling he's gonna off the market for those reasons, especially with the labor uncertainty.

But... we could still trade the #10 overall for Neuvirth :lmao:

We all are just guessing as none of us really know if a) Vancouver wants to or has to trade him or b) he is SFY's target or c) Some other team is willing to put together an absurd offer that SFY won't or shouldn't match.

I'm guessing that Vancouver won't trade him for all the reasons that I've prevously stated - I think they wait until after the CBA is negotiated to see if there is some relief on the Luongo situation. I think most of us feel that Schneider is the best young goalie out there, but SFY may feel that a lesser target (such as Bernier) would give them a huge upgrade and still enable him to retain the #10 pick and more of his #2s without perhaps having to give up a Connolly or another prospect. If you have to pay the #10, Connolly and a couple of seconds for Schneider, it may be better to use the Detroit pick and a second for Bernier. I'm making up proposals, but I think the difference in offers between the two are going to be substantial. I think Colorado went nuts last year and if Burke makes his usual overpayment offer this year, it may be that you don't want to give up as much as you have to in a bidding war for Schneider.

Donnie I think you are right and have felt that way for some time, if, and that is a big if, they get relief on Lu's contract then he might be the one they trade.

Default Garon

Anyone know how Garon is doing? Is he rehabbing ok? I was just wondering how you come back from that type of groin injury? Oh what about Killorn making the team in the fall, or does he need more time with the Ads?

Default Killorn

Ok, does Killorn make the big club in the fall? Is that the truth? Or wishful thinking?

I think he has a legitimate shot to show he belongs in camp. I would bet SFY also signs a vet FA just in case, but if the kid comes in and has a great camp, he would certainly be an option. I think he would be a good fit.

With the young depth we have tearing it up in Norfolk right now, we may not even need to sign another forward(aside from grinder/AHL depth) and take all of the left over money to throw at defense and a goalie acquisition.

Let's do the math... you've got 8 forwards written in ink on next year's roster already under one-way deals:

Stamkos, MSL, Lecavalier, Purcell, Malone, Pyatt, Thompson, Tyrell

Add in J.T. Brown who's pretty much as penciled in as it gets. I believe they'll also qualify J.T. Wyman as well, and he's pretty much penciled in too, IMO. So, that's 10 forwards.

Basically leaves 4 open spots for FAs and/or promotions within the system. Killorn and Conacher are at the head of the class from within the system. IMO, both will make a strong run at a roster spot.

Connolly is a wild card. He could make the roster, but he's eligible to play Norfolk, so they could always keep Conacher and basically tell Connolly to go do what Cory did this past year. Both Gauthier and Namestnikov are also Norfolk eligible next season as well.

I'd like to see both Killorn and Conacher make the show, Bolts sign two FA forwards, and send Connolly, Namestnikov, and Gauthier to Norfolk to play with Johnson, Palat, Panik, Hutchings, and Labrie.

Those are all the knowns at this point... obviously, I'd like to see resigning of vets like Angelidis, Smith, and Segal, but those guys are gonna first look for sure-fire NHL gigs before considering resigning with the Bolts.
