Finland Loses in WJC Semifinals

Finland's medal hopes at the U20 World Junior Championships came to an end today as they lost their semifinal matchup with Canada 4-2. Riku Helenius rode the bench as Harri Sateri played well in the game holding the Canadians to 3 goals on 32 shots.

Finland will now play in the 5th place game tomorrow against the Czech Republic.

USA Buries Finland in Round Robin Finale

Team USA scored 5 unanswered goals before surrendering a 3 spot in garbage time but still cruising to a 5-3 win over Team Finland in both teams' final game of the round robin at the U20 World Junior Championships.

Lightning prospect netminder Riku Helenius allowed all 5 goals on 20 shots before being pulled midway through the game for backup Harri Sateri who stopped 9 of 9 shots the rest of the way. Helenius drops to 2-1-0 on the tournament with a 3.11 GAA, 1 shutout, and .873 save percentage.

Finland faces the hard test of a quarterfinal matchup with Team Canada on Wednesday to try to keep their medal hopes alive.

Munce Reassigned to Mississippi

In an anticipated move related to the reassignment of goaltender Marc Denis from the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Norfolk Admirals, the Admirals announced today that goaltender Ryan Munce has been reassigned from Norfolk to Mississippi of the ECHL.

Cunti Held Off Scoresheet in USHL Matinee

Luca Cunti was held off the scoresheet for the first time today, but the Chicago Steel still defeated the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets 4-2. Cunti was +1 with 2 shots on goal in the game.

The Minutemen won 4-3 and face #4 Colorado College Sunday night in the final.
