Lightning Recall Falcons Leading Scorer

After Martin Cibak did not dress against Dallas with an undisclosed injury and Tim Taylor left the Stars game hurt, the Lightning have recalled Springfield center Jason Jaspers. With John Tortorella's philosophy on icing three scoring lines, Jaspers could get a chance to show his offensive ability on the NHL level tonight against Atlanta. Jaspers currently leads the Falcons in scoring this season with 16 goals and 23 assists for 39 points in 41 games. The 5-foot-11, 207-pound native of Thunder Bay, Ontario also leads Springfield in power play goals this season with nine. He was acquired in the offseason from Phoenix.

Anton But recorded an assist as Ufa downed Yaroslavl 5-3. But's torrid scoring pace has made him one of the Superleague's top-10 scorers this season. Vasily Koshechkin allowed three goals before being pulled prior to an empty net goal as Dynamo defeated Togliatti 4-2. Koshechkin is now 14-10-4 on the season.

Ramo Drops to .500

Karri Ramo seems to have regained the top spot for HPK, that's the good news. The bad news is that today, in the second of back-to-back starts, Ramo fell to 5-5-3 as HIFK scored 2 third period goals to defeat HPK 3-2. Ramo stopped 25 of 28 in the loss.

Change of Scenery Suiting Chris Lawrence

Lightning prospect RW/C Chris Lawrence scored a hat trick tonight, including the overtime game winning goal, in a wild 7-6 victory over Brampton. Since being traded to Missisauga from Sault Ste Marie a month ago, Lawrence has 8 goals and 15 points in 14 games. Last season he had just 11 goals all season. Lawrence, who was selected by the Lightning in the 3rd round of last summer's draft, has received criticism for much of his junior career for lack of intensity and failure to live up to his potential. Perhaps, under the tutledge of head coach Gred Gilbert, Lawrence is finally starting to break through.
