A masterful game by Coleman. HFD-1 SPR-2 Gerald Coleman stopped 29 of 30 for the win, but somehow was denied a star of the game. Those were reserved for Zdenek Blatny (1st star) for his assist on the game winning goal to go with a prior power play assist on the first goal and Marek Kvapil (3rd star) who scored it. Norm Milley paid instant dividends scoring his 13th of the season in his return to a reenergized second line that featured he, Ryan Vesce and David Spina. Clearly Gerald Coleman performs better in a tandem situation where he's in a competition. It worked well for him in London and its working well now with Boutin in Springfield. It's been a busy week and I realized that I hadn't posted this, but Zbynek Hrdel was recalled to Springfield on Monday (3/10). He was -3 in the contest against Albany on Wednesday. Even with the recall, the Falcons were forced to play a man short in the game. Springfield plays Hartford tonight at 7:35 ET.

Today was the final tour of the Superleague regular season and the best story amongst Lightning prospects remains Vasily Koshechkin. The netminder ended in style today with a 1-0 shutout of Tver, his 10th no-no of the season. His record improved to 19-13-6 with the victory. The playoffs in the Superleague begin Monday. In the round of 16 it will be Dynamo against Lada, Khimik against Nizhnekamsk, Omsk against SKA St Petersburg, CSKA against Cherepovets and Yaroslavl against Novosibirsk.

Playoffs in serious jeopardy... TB-5 BUF-8 Sean Burke got the loss allowing 2 goals in relief but it was John Grahame's 5 goals on 16 shots through 2 periods that put the Lightning behind the eight ball. Paul Ranger got his 14th assist of the season, which is small solace. Game sheet from NHL.com.

Norm Milley was placed on waivers today, likely with a view towards sending him back down to Springfield who once again played a man short. SPR-3 ALB-5 Jonathan Boutin stopped 27 of 32 in the loss. Zdenek Blatny, who has been everything advertised and more since coming to the Falcons in exchange for Brian Eklund, had 2 goals and 3 points for Springfield. Gerard Dicaire also had a helper on the night. Game sheet from TheAHL.com.
