Lou didn't pay the electric bill.

    NJ-0 9:12 2nd

The game has been suspended due to New Jersey's inability to get a bank of lights functioning in their allegedly state-of-the-art and pratically brand new arena in scenic downtown Newark, New Jersey.

No announcement has been made regarding how the league will handle the stoppage. We'll have to dig back in the history books, but I seems to recall a game during Paul Ranger's junior career where this same thing happened and Oshawa had to play the remainder of the game at a different date a week or two later. I'm perfectly fine with the Lightning having to finish out the last 29 minutes of the game. A winner doesn't want to be handed 2 points for half a night's work. As long as the Lightning get to start the resumption of this game with a 3-0 lead at the same point on the clock, I'm fine with that. That's fair. If the Devils try to lobby the league for anything else, I'm going to lose a lot of respect for their organization.

Mike Smith has 20 saves on 20 shots thus far.

    First Period
    TB 6:58, Downie 9 (Foster, Malone)(PP)

    Second Period
    TB 5:13, Bochenski 1 (Stamkos, Foster)(PP)
TB 10:04, Stamkos 22 (St. Louis, Lecavalier)

I wonder how this is going to be handled in my fantasy league. Stamkos has 1 goal and 1 assist already, for crying out loud!

The league has announced the game will be restarted at the point it was stopped at a date to be determined. Good.

It's as if the Admirals got the early goal and then decided it was going to be easy so they didn't have to skate hard anymore.

Dustin Tokarski allowed 4 goals on 40 shots for the loss. There were a couple of goals that went through Dustin that I'm sure he wishes he had back. I'd expect Janus to be in tomorrow night.

    First Period
NOR Simek, (10) (MacAulay), 1:07 (PP)
SYR Sigalet, (3) (Bell, Aulin), 11:44 (PP)

    Second Period
    SYR Aulin, (10) (LaVallee-Smotherman, Bell), 7:06
SYR Bell, (7) (Fritsche, Aulin), 9:42 (PP)

    LW/C Alex Hutchings, BAR: 1-0-1, +1, 0 PIM
    Season Totals: 38 GP, 26-23-49, +28, 32 PIM

Hutchings opened the game’s scoring with his 26th goal of the year. His career high for goals is 34, set last season. He scored 29 two years ago. Barrie is expected to announce the acquisition of Alex Pietrangelo, who was released back to major junior by the St. Louis Blues after being named the top defenseman at the world junior championship while playing for Team Canada.

Johan Harju, Dynamo Moscow, 0-1-1, E, 0 PIM, 0 SOG

Harju played 16:15 in the match and got his 10th assist of the season, but was just 17% on draws in the win. Swedish Olympian Mattias Weinhandl again led the Dynamo attack with 1 goal and 1 assist.

    Novgorod 1 @ Omsk 2
    Karri Ramo, Omsk, Win, 21/22, 1.00 GAA, .955 sv%
    Season totals: 32 GP, 17-14, 3 SO, 2.06 GAA, .912 sv%

The Lightning shouldn't be down 3-0 before I unwrap my sub sandwich. Seriously.

Mike Smith allowed 5 goals on 35 shots. I'm going to make a bold prediction that he won't be one of the NHL's weekly three stars in back-to-back weeks.

    First Period
    BUF 0:23, Myers 4 (Connolly)
BUF 1:11, Hecht 9 (Rivet, Tallinder)
BUF 2:11, MacArthur 11 (Mair, Lydman)
TB 12:03, St. Louis 10 (Stamkos, Malone)
    TB 13:25, Hedman 4 (unassisted)

    Second Period
    BUF 1:19, Stafford 10 (Roy, Rivet)(PP)
TB 5:34, Lecavalier 10 (Downie, Lundin)
BUF 7:25, Pominville 11 (Lydman, Connolly)

    Third Period

I give the Lightning credit for not laying down after falling behind so much, so early. However, you've got to be more prepared to play a hockey game and you've got to protect the front of your net better.

Zenon Konopka was -1 with 1 shot, 4 hits, and he was 78% on draws in 9:06. He picked off a Ryan Miller clear and almost assisted on Jones' first goal of the season. No dice, though. Still, it was a nice play. Tonight was Konopka's 41st game of the season, which graduates him from overage prospect status on Bolt Prospects. So, congratulations to Zenon Konopka on becoming an NHLer.

Paul Szczechura had 2 shots and 1 blocked shot in 12:43.

James Wright was scoreless in 9:31. Tonight was also Wright's 41st game of the season, which graduates him from prospect status on Bolt Prospects. Congratulations to the pride of Saskatoon on becoming an NHLer.

Blair Jones had 4 shots, 2 hits, and 1 blocked shot in 10:53. That first goal of the season seems close.

Victor Hedman scored a highlight reel goal and was -1 with 2 shots and 1 blocked shot in 20:48. He made a bad little turnover close to his own blueline, used his speed and reach to recover and break up a pass, and then swooped from his zone into the Buffalo zone and sizzled a snap shot right past Miller to get the game to 3-2. It was an amazing individual effort, and 6'6" 230 lbs guys shouldn't be able to skate that well. That's the second or third time this season he's taken over a rush a la Dan Boyle and created a goal with his speed and skill. Hedman's next game will graduate him from prospect status on Bolt Prospects.

Four points and you're not one of the three stars?

Dustin Tokarski allowed 4 goals on 40 shots to claim the win.

    First Period
NOR Craig, (11) (Hall, Karsums), 0:46
WBS Letestu, (12) (Johnson, Jeffrey), 5:05
    NOR Hall, (7) (Karsums), 7:06
NOR Craig, (12) (Hall, Karsums), 12:57

    Second Period
    NOR Smolenak, (5) (Lashoff), 2:19
WBS Wallace, (10) (Conner, Strait), 5:00
    WBS Tangradi, (8) (Vitale), 6:04
NOR Hall, (8) (Lashoff, Karsums), 10:22

    Third Period
WBS Jeffrey, (11) (Letestu, Johnson), 1:52

Adam Hall (2 goals and 2 assists and a +3 rating) was the game's first star and Ryan Craig was the game's second star with a pair of goals and a +3 rating, answering the bell in Brandon Bochenski's absence. Martins Karsums (4 assists and +3 rating) evidently didn't deserve star consideration. Really?

Karsums now has 2 goals and 10 points over his last 7 games and is finally emerging from a slump that lasted almost the entire first half of the season. He looks energized heading into the Olympics for native Latvia. Matt Lashoff had a pair of helpers for his first multi-point night of the season. Like Karsums, who came with Lashoff in the Mark Recchi deal, Lashoff also slumbered offensively through much of the first half of the season, but he now has 1 goal and 4 points in his last 4 games. Sooner or later, it was inevitable with the talent on this roster that certain guys like Karsums and Lashoff were going to start showing up. It's a good sign.

    Magnitogorsk 3 @ Kazan 2 (OT)
    Vasily Koshechkin, Magnitogorsk, Win, 27/29, 1.85 GAA, .931 sv%
    Season totals: 36 GP, 18-15, 5 SO, 2.06 GAA, .923 sv%

    Dmitri Kazionov, Kazan, 0-1-1, +1, 0 PIM, 2 SOG
    Season totals: 40 GP, 14-5-19, +3, 12 PIM

Kazionov assisted on a second period goal by Janne Pesonen for Ak Bars, but Kazan still fell to Magnitogorsk on the strength of 1 goal and 1 assist from former Lightning draft pick Fedor Fedorov. Kazionov played 16:11 in the match for Kazan.

    Ekaterinburg 1 @ Togliatti 2
    Denis Kazionov, Ekaterinburg, 0-0-0, -1, 0 PIM, 2 SOG
    Season totals: 37 GP, 4-3-7, -15, 12 PIM

The tough KHL education of Denis Kazionov continues, as he was -1 in 11:33 to drop his season plus-minus to -15.
