Darcy (pictured) broke his personal 3-game pointless streak with two assists, and was a highlight save away from a third assist on a potential game-winner in the final seconds of overtime. Moncton won the shootout, 1-0, but their goal came after a lengthy review to see if the puck slid into the net under Francois Brassard’s pad as Brassard’s momentum carried him into the net. The Eagles fought back from down 4-1 to tie the game. Both of Darcy’s assists came in the third period. Conor Garland (undrafted) had a goal and three assists for Moncton. Garland, who is listed at 5-8 (generous), is second in the league in points with 50 in 27 games.

Edmonton Oil Kings 3 @ Moose Jaw Warriors 2 (OT)

C Brayden Point, MJ: 2-0-2, -2, 0 PIM, *First Star*

    2013-14 totals: 72 GP, 36-55-91, -27, 53 PIM

Point had two goals and was first star for the second straight game, but his Warriors fell in overtime to Edmonton, 3-2. Point’s first goal came when he held the puck behind Edmonton’s net and got goaltender Tristan Jarry (Penguins) to look to his right while he darted out on the left post and slid it beside the unsuspecting goalie. His second goal was scored near the right post with a quick wrist shot off a loose puck. He was on the ice for the game-tying goal by Justin Pollock (Stars), who went around Moose Jaw defenseman Tyler Brown and cut in to the net where he lifted a backhander far side with 39 seconds left. Moose Jaw got a power play shortly thereafter, but couldn’t capitalized in overtime. With 46 seconds left in overtime Point won an offensive zone faceoff to Brown at the right point, who fumbled the puck. Pollock picked it up and skated in alone on Justin Paulic before beating him with a backhand deke high into the net. Pollock looked a lot like Valeri Nichushkin on both plays, which is ironic because Pollock is a Stars draft pick. Point beat out Pollock for first star, which was likely decided before the overtime winner. Pollock was second star.
