    2012-2013 Season: 68 GP, 28-44-72, +11, 67 PIM

Adam Erne had a goal and an assist in his season home debut to give him five points in his first two games, but the Remparts lost in overtime, 4-3. Erne led Quebec in hits with six and won 14 of 19 faceoffs. After two games Erne is one off the league goal scoring lead with four, and he is one off his team’s points lead with five. He led Quebec in points last season.

    Ontario Hockey League

    Barrie Colts 3 @ Sudbury Wolves 5

    D Jake Dotchin, BAR: 1-0-1, -1, 0 PIM
    Season totals: 3 GP, 1-2-3, +4, 8 PIM

Dotchin scored his first goal of the year and extended his point streak to start the season to three games, but Barrie fell to Sudbury, 5-3. The Wolves scored four times in the third period to claim the win. Last year it took Dotchin 10 games to score his first goal.

It was Ikonen’s first game action since leaving the ice for Tampa Bay vs St. Louis in the preseason with what appeared to be a head injury. He was cleared for practice the next day and reassigned to the OHL. Ikonen made a good impression at Lightning camp, showing good energy and a willingness to compete for any available puck. He is expected to be a point producer on a maturing Kingston squad.

Owen Sound Attack 5 @ Barrie Colts 7

    D Jake Dotchin, BAR: 0-1-1, +2, 6 PIM
    Season totals: 2 GP, 0-2-2, +5, 8 PIM
    2012-13 totals: 66 GP, 4-18-22, E, 81 PIM

Dotchin notched a power play assist on the game’s first goal and his teammates scored five times in the third period to lead the Colts to a 7-4 win over Dotchin’s former team, Owen Sound. Dotchin told Bolt Prospects in Tampa that he expected to score more points this year, and while it would be up to the coaches, he said power play time was likely. He wasn’t getting that in Owen Sound. Dotchin had six assists in 28 games with Barrie last year, and is 1/3 of the way there already. His plus-5 rating so far is a career high.

    Sarnia Sting 3 @ Windsor Spitfires 1

    D Slater Koekkoek, WSR: 1-0-1, +1, 0 PIM
    2012-13 totals: 40 GP, 6-23-29, -24, 28 PIM

Koekkoek – who was named an alternate captain for the Spits earlier in the day – scored with just under four minutes left in regulation to help Windsor avoid a shutout loss at home. It was his first game of the season, and first game since January 12 when he sustained a left shoulder injury. He underwent surgery for the second straight year, but all reports state that the ailment was finally fixed. Koekkoek reportedly skated gingerly to the bench at one point in Thursday’s game, but didn’t miss a shift. The story of the game was Sarnia goaltender Taylor Dupuis (undrafted), who stopped 48 of 49 shots. The Sting managed just 20 shots. Their three goals came on six shots against Jordan DeKort (undrafted), who was quickly pulled by Windsor coach Bob Boughner.

    Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

    Quebec Remparts 6 @ Rimouski Oceanic 2

W Adam Erne, QUE: 3-0-3, +2, 4 PIM, *First Star*
    2012-2013 Season: 68 GP, 28-44-72, +11, 67 PIM

It’s still Adam Erne’s world. Erne made his season debut for the Remparts and picked up where he left off with the Lightning, scoring three times to lead Quebec to their first win of the year, 6-2 over rival Rimouski. Erne’s last hockey game was the Lightning’s preseason opener in Orlando when he scored twice in regulation and again in the shootout to earn first star honors. He was first star in Rimouski tonight, too.

Erne was suspended by the NHL for three preseason games, a sentence which doesn’t carry over to juniors. The Lightning reassigned him shortly after the NHL made their decision. Erne didn’t waste time mixing things up on Sunday as he took boarding and slashing penalties in the first period. He also scored.

London wins best-of-7 OHL Finals, 4-3

    Season totals: 66 GP, 4-18-22, E, 81 PIM

    With Owen Sound: 38 GP, 2-12-14, +1, 39 PIM

Likely 2013 first rounder Bo Horvat scored his second goal of the game with less than a second remaining in regulation to give the London Knights a come-from-behind series win and the OHL championship. Barrie was up 3-1 in the series over the favored Knights, but couldn’t close out the defending champs. Barrie’s loss means Lightning prospect Jake Dotchin is done for the year – the last drafted/signed Lightning prospect still playing outside the AHL. We will continue to follow Halifax’s Nate MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin through the Memorial Cup tournament. The Lightning could pick one of the two with the third overall pick in this summer’s draft. WHL Portland, London, and tournament host Saskatoon will join Halifax in the tournament.

Note: With the Lightning picking No. 3 in this summer’s draft, it is expected they will choose either MacKinnon or Drouin with their first round pick. While that could change, we will follow both prospects for the duration of their playoff run as we did with Steven Stamkos after the Lightning won the 2008 draft lottery.
