Wilcox’s string of three games with First Star awards came to an end on Friday.

    QMJHL

    Gatineau Olympiques 4 @ Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 5

D Adam Janosik, GAT: 0-1-1, +1, 7 PIM (fighting vs. Dylan Anderson, hooking), 1 SOG, 0 Hits
    Season Totals: 40 GP, 5-22-27, -9, 43 PIM

Gatineau captain Adam Janosik was a goal shy of a Gordie Howe hat trick after having an assist (shorthanded) and a fight. Janosik has elevated his game since being named captain. He dropped the gloves 23 seconds into the game to help send a message to the Armada. He certainly did as he pummeled Anderson in a clear fight win for Janosik. (see video below)

    Victoriaville Tigres 6 @ Baie-Comeau Drakkar 1

    D Daniel Milan, VIC: 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM, 0 SOG, 0 Hits
    Season Totals: 47 GP, 1-6-7, -14, 43 PIM

    OHL

    Niagara IceDogs 3 @ London Knights 2

    C Vladislav Namestnikov, LDN: 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM
    Season Totals: 46 GP, 17-38-55, +11, 38 PIM

Namestnikov set a new career high when he failed to score for the 14th straight game. London broke Niagara goalie Mark Visentin’s shutout streak at three games, but the Coyotes pick got the win against the high-powered Knights. Former Lightning draft pick Brock Beukeboom (pictured), who was traded by the Lightning at this time last year to the Blues, played his 30th game of the season on Friday for Niagara. He missed most of last year and this year with a concussion. He had an assist Friday to give him 11 points (2 goals) on the year for Niagara. Hopefully his development is back on track after missing so much time due to injury. The Lightning took him in the third round in 2010.

    With Owen Sound: 27 GP, 0-11-11, +3, 20 PIM

    Season Totals (with Green Bay): 9 GP, 7-2-0, 2.27 GAA, .918 sv%, 2 SO

Wilcox (pictured) earned his second straight First Star award by stopping 30 shots in a close road win in Omaha. He made 37 saves last Saturday to defeat Waterloo, 3-2. The Storm are within three points of Des Moines for sixth in the Western Conference, but Des Moines has four games in hand.

    QMJHL

    D Adam Janosik, GAT: 0-0-0, -1, 0 PIM, 2 SOG, 3 Hits
    Season Totals: 37 GP, 5-20-25, -4, 34 PIM

Fresh off a career-high three points in his last game, Janosik was scoreless Friday in the house that Brad Richards and Vincent Lecavalier built in Rimouski. Janosik had two goals and an assist earlier in the week against Victoriaville. Friday's game featured seven different goal scorers.

    OHL

    C Vladislav Namestnikov, LDN: 0-0-0, -1, 0 PIM
    Season Totals: 44 GP, 17-36-53, +11, 38 PIM

He had a 13-game goal-less drought last year, which was the longest of his short OHL career thus far. Namestnikov has 13 assists over his last 12 games, but only one in his last three contests. Lightning camper Seth Griffith scored his 35th goal of the season on Friday. His 35 goals rank second in the league behind Kings second rounder Tyler Toffoli of the Ottawa 67’s.

    Season Totals: 44 GP, 1-6-7, -13, 43 PIM
    With Victoriaville: 11 GP, 1-1-2, E, 12 PIM

    Season Totals: 36 GP, 5-20-25, -3, 34 PIM

The CHL’s main site didn’t list any Tuesday games on their front page so this slipped through the cracks. It’s a shame because we nearly missed Milan’s first goal of the year. He had 14 last season as a rookie with Moncton and hadn’t scored since last year’s playoffs. Janosik had two goals and an assist in the most productive (statistically) game of his QMJHL career.

Here is Janosik's first goal of the game:

    With Victoriaville: 11 GP, 1-1-2, E, 12 PIM
    With Moncton: 33 GP, 0-5-5, -13, 31 PIM

Milan played against his former defensive partner, Coyotes first rounder Brandon Gormley, who was traded from Moncton to Shawinigan after the World Junior tournament earlier this month. Gormley had an assist in the game for the Cataractes. Maligned Islanders draft pick Kirill Kabanov had two assists for Shawinigan.

    OHL

    Kitchener Rangers 8 @ London Knights 3

    C Vladislav Namestnikov, LDN: 0-1-1, -3, 0 PIM
    Season Totals: 43 GP, 17-36-53, +12, 38 PIM

Kitchener embarrassed their division rivals and Namestnikov (pictured) on Wednesday night, 8-3. Namestnikov was stripped of the puck while on the power play early, leading to the first Rangers goal. Former Lightning camper Seth Griffith had two goals (33, 34) for London, who outshot Kitchener 48-35. Namestnikov’s minus-3 rating tied a career worst for the Lightning’s 2011 first rounder, set last January 28 in a 6-4 loss to Erie. London is now “only” eight points up on Kitchener for first in the Midwest Division.
