Ramo Beats Raycroft
Boltprospects had already learned from the Lightning organization that its European scouts were dancing in the streets about the meteoric rise of goaltender Karri Ramo in the SM-liiga. However, after today's 4-2 victory over Tapparra, somersaults may be even more appropriate.
It isn't simply that Ramo, an 18 year old playing against grown men in one of the best leagues in Europe, stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced en route to being named second star of the game. Even more impressive is that Ramo defeated last year's Boston Bruins rookie sensation Andrew Raycroft in the process.
Sporting a .919 sv% despite playing behind the worst team in the league, Ramo shows no signs of letting up, making his run through Finland's top league a tough act for junior players like Jonathan Boutin and Gerald Coleman to follow.
