Lawrence Lights It Up

Now that's how you start a season. Chris Lawrence, fresh from Tampa after participating in the Lightning's training camp, scored a career high 5 points, including a hattrick, as the Mississauga Ice Dogs absolutely crushed Lightning prospect Kevin Beech and the Sudbury Wolves 10-4 in the both teams first game of the year. Beech, expected to be one of the better goalies in the league this year as a 20 year old, was pulled before the half-way mark of the game after allowing 6 goals on 30 shots. Lawrence was named first star of the game. In other action, Marek Bartanus had two assists in his season debut for Owen Sound but the Attack fell to Guelph 4-3. In the "Dub," Dan Crowley went scoreless and was (minus)1 in a 5-2 Swift Current loss to Regina. The alternate captain blocked several shots in the game, mixed it up in multiple scrums, and earned four minutes in penalties.

I'm Hesitant

I'm hesitant to jump on their bandwagons whole hog because they have a history of underachieving, but if you look at the second halves they had last season there's no reason Lawrence and Bartanus shouldn't have fantastic seasons this year. Poor Beech.
