Tortorella: Perrin, Janik have Secured Roster Spots

WDAE radio in Tampa is reporting Eric Perrin has made the Lightning's opening day roster. "The sonofabitch has made the team," said Lightning Head Coach Tortorella, using the term as affectionaly as it can be used to describe Perrin. In fact, Tortorella told the press that for tonight's game, Perrin, thought to be a candidate for no better than the third forward line, will be placed with Vincent Lecavalier and Vinny Prospal against Detroit. ALSO: In Erik Erlendsson’s Blog on the Trib site, he says that Doug Janik has also earned a roster spot and Andy Delmore could be put through waivers. Erlendsson also speculates that first-year pro Matt Smaby may have passed Delmore on the depth chart.

He just had to curse didn't

He just had to curse didn't he. Now we can expect to hear what a terrible guy he is, and how he should be outlawed for the next 5 months.

Springfield

I was really hoping they'd have his offense down in springy...this will hurt them a bit.

A Lot

It will hurt Springfield a lot, however there is talk now that Delmore might not make the Lightning and that could offset the loss. Blair Jones' development just became very very important for the Falcons.

Good news

I hadn't heard this before I went to the game. I was thinking on the way home tonight how screwed he might be. He played well with the big boys and also did great on the PK. However, there's no spot there. He's just warming Fed's seat. In the meantime Tarnasky - Taylor - Milley put on some of the best 4th line action I've seen in a while. Their play was top-notch all night, spending most of it in the Detroit zone. I figured Tort's might keep them and Perrin might be out. If Perrin has to clear waivers to go down to Springfield, I'm absolutely certain he would be lost.
