Helenius To Miss 4 Months?

Ilves Hockey is reporting that Lightning 2006 first rounder Riku Helenius will have surgery on his dislocated shoulder and miss four months. As of yesterday afternoon, the Lightning could not confirm how long either Helenius or Vladimir Mihalik (separated shoulder) would be out.

Surgery?

That seems like an incredibly serious shoulder dislocation....could it perhaps entail a torn rotator cuff, etc...more...don't know much but that seems like a long time off

Not sure...

His MRIs were sent to Lightning doctors right after the injury so they are in the loop on what's going on. Nothing could be confirmed yesterday, though, so I don't know anything further. Perhaps... and this is my speculation ... there was a problem that looked like it could heal relatively well but be in danger of happening again one or more times in his career and they looked at his playing time situation for this year and decided to recommend surgery and nip this in the bud now rather than later. Again, just my speculation.
