Karjala Cup Day Two
Submitted by pete on November 11, 2006 - 11:12
Vasily Koshechkin got the day off as Alexander Eremenko was between the pipes today in Russia's 5-4 win over Sweden to move to 2-0-0 in the Karjala Cup tournament. Evgeny Artyukhin was held out of the match with a suspension stemming from the charging major he took in the opening match against Finland.
Update:
Video of Russia's opening match against Finland can be found here, including the knee-to-knee hit that has resulted in Artyukhin's ejection from the tournament.

Artyukhin
He's in some hot water it seems. According to a poster on HF:
"Viuhkola (The guy he hit) has been diagnosed at least with a torn knee ligament, a torn cartilage and a torn knee capsule. (sp?)
Jevgeni Artjuhin will not continue the tournament, as he has been banned by the tournament's directorate because of the kneeing incident. The case will also go to IIHF."
