NHL Game Night 11/24: Thrashers at Lightning

What a finish. What a finish.

ATL-2
TB-3 (OT)

Johan Holmqvist stopped 23 of 25 shots faced for the win. Dan Boyle had a pair of goals for the Lightning including the tying goal with the extra attacker with 21 seconds left that was a point shot which deflected off of two Thrashers and in to force overtime. Martin St. Louis had 1 goal and 1 assist with his overtime winning goal coming off some incredible work in the corner by Vaclav Prospal who, along with Vincent Lecavalier, Filip Kuba, Ryan Craig and Cory Sarich, had individual helpers in the game. I dont want to hear another

I dont want to hear another Lightning fan ever complain again about bad bounces and the refs screwing them haha

Well

From where I sit (about 1300 miles away) the Lightning were owed a few and cashed one in last night. Scoob in Spfld.

Special Night

Tonight had that special feel to it, kinda like in this franchises two most magical years the cup year and 95 - 96. You could feel the determination to the last that they could get it done and the bench celebrated like little kids when that 2nd goal went in. It wasn't relief, it was joy. Now granted, in those other two season's games played out like this fairly consistently and this will have to happen some more to make this year special. But, many year's have come and gone without having these kind of moments in our history.

It wasn't our best game, but we did what we had to to gain a division victory.

I don't see how Blair Jones goes back if Taylor is ready to go on Sunday. The kid played a strong game again. I suspect Tarnasky gets IT with Springfield for a while til Jay unloads either Karlsson, Affy or perhaps, Taylor. I suspect Jones may be making more than Karlsson's $500 K since he's a 3rd rounder on his entry contract. His cap number may be $550, about where R2 was I believe.

Do you actually see anyone

Do you actually see anyone picking up Taylor though, if he were to be on the block? I know playoff teams always like to have a vet around, but I don't think he's even a slight threat anymore to put up any decent numbers.

Faceoff specialist

Like we use him for. I agree that I don't see him being unloaded until about the final month before the trade deadline. I believe his contract is up at the end of this season - so nobody who gets him would be on the hook for much.
