In game two on 8/17 Alex Polushin was one of the best players of the match helping Severstal defeat Novosibirsk 4-1 by chipping in yet another goal. In game three on 8/19 Alex Polushin was named best player in the match for Cherepovets in a 5-2 loss where Alexander chipped in an assist on Severstal's second goal. In the final on 8/20 Polushin was on the ice late in a 1-0 game and notched an empty net goal with 1:04 left on the clock to seal Cherepovets' tournament victory. Avangard Omsk finished third in the tournament finishing 1-2 in the round robin before defeating Novosibirsk 4-1 in the third place game.
